Does this qualify as a moral victory?

Who cares? The players and coaches are the ones who work their butts off. Their opinion of the game is the only one that matters.

All the opinions posted herecare insignificant. They do not matter. Except mine, of course.

If your emotional state is tied to wins and losses of 18-23 year old young men, you're gonna have a tough row to hoe in this life.
Their opinions don’t matter. I heard Haynes King say he was a mix of Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson today. The only thing that matters is the result of the game.

As for people’s emotional states, I much prefer upset sports fans over people who are upset about politics or their own lives. Mad sports fans say dumb things, at worst. We saw this week how bad things can go about people who get upset about more serious things.

No. A moral victory is not really expecting to win. We had every opportunity to win. We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by not playing to win.

We all choose to live with the level of maturity we have reached.

Honest question, where was UGA better than UT today? DBs? Maybe. Where else?
They're more talented and deeper about everywhere you look. The most talented team in the nation. The state is, depending upon which service you view, #1, 2, or 3 in the amount of elite recruits annually. In 2025, 37 or so of those elites were Georgia natives. TN produced about 8. Generally, in-state talent you capture is less likely to transfer.

TN will always have to be 3X better and travel harder than GA's recruiting staff, just to capture comparable talent. And then keep it. It's a tremendous advantage for GA.

Here are the 247Sports Team Talent Composite ratings for the top 25 NCAA Football teams for the 2025 season

I’m sick of this crap too - but there were a lot of good signs that we haven’t seen in a while: O-line and WRs played really well. Our QB answered the big questions about him.

Unfortunately, that ridiculous false start penalty got in our kicker’s head. Getting lost on that 2-point conversion was pathetic - there wasn’t a defender writhing 15 yards of the guy in the end zone. Suddenly forgetting how to play offense and defense in OT.

While I am not sure we’ll sustain that level throughout the rest of the season (Heupel’s teams habitually drop 1 or 2 that we shouldn’t), there’s a lot to be hopeful about. Gotta see how the team responds.

My guess: 9-3 or 8-4
Please tell me the other 3 losses.

"Hey, we were a FG away from beating one of the best teams with the best coach" isnt a moral victory when youre point is to show the program is actually pretty good and not a crazy one off like many people wondered in 22 when georgia smoked them. Heupel put up 500 yards and 38 points on Kirby. Isn't the point to show he broke thru in that regard? Losing this game scoring 38 in regulation may be more telling than winning 16-14, in some ways. It shows it wasn't lightning in a bottle with Hooker. He has evolved as a coach and has been doing more with less. I still like this team better than last years (altho the schedule is going to be tougher). If you get better every year, you'll eventually beat Georgia, like Kirby did Saban.

I hate that term and I'm disgusted over the loss as well--but there is a silver lining in the fact that we beat ourselves. Had we gotten boat raced 45-10 or some garbage I'd probably be like "well I guess it's just a down year let's hope for the Duke's Mayo Bowl". After today's game a return to the CFP is a reality, especially if we get our injured guys back.

A moral loss?? It's bad when you lose especially when you stop doing the things that put you ahead and let the other team take the initiative and win the game.

This is what's hard to swallow. Settling for a FG, giving up a long drive with a busted 2 pt conversion play and missing a field goal all within under 5 minutes of game time. Kinda makes me feel like Dennis Green after the Cardinals blew the MNF game against the Bears in 2006.

Rocketskates, I think folks realize if in a close game we will quit doing what we are doing best and play not to lose instead of play to win. That's very disturbing for the future.

Moral Victories are for losers. Our team botched this one. We need to learn from it, we are good enough to beat every team on our schedule.

Bummer and Florida on the road … although if we play like we did against UGA (eliminating the lapses that cost us the game), we could win either. The Swamp is a cursed place for us, so until we show that we’re over that, my assumption is (painfully) a loss.

The Oklahoma game is interesting. They are better than last year. But we have them at home. Heupel’s teams seem to lose 1-2 that we shouldn’t every year. Is this the season where that changes? Hopefully so.

Aguilar balled-out against UGA. The O-line and WRs played well too, There are some reasons to be hopeful.

This was a heartbreaker for players and fans alike. It's easier, for me at least, to lose by 20+ points than 3. We didn't know what to expect, most people had written us off before the start of the season.
Our "YOUNG" team showed us they can hang with anyone. They gave a hell of a fight against one of the best, if not the best team in the Nation. GoVols!!!

I understand what you're saying, but I have to disagree with the "It's easier,..., to lose by 20+ points than 3.", especially at home. It's next to impossible to find find "silver linings" in a lopsided loss.

I hated the loss yesterday, but I sure am proud of the way our boys hung in for 60+ minutes. They also showed that they can play with the best in the country on any given Saturday.
