Does this make up for a disappointing season?

yes, this makes up for it. The way they are playing and attacking. The attitude. The wins. I expected sweet 16 this year, was pissed because I didn't think it would happen, and here we are.
I'm happy for CM, the team and the fans.

Yep.
As much as Martin, the staff, and the players deserve the criticism for a majority of the season, they should enjoy the same amount of praise for what they have done when it matters.

Were you paying attention to the last year of UT basketball?

I certainly have been and have been watching improvement by the week after 1/1. You can watch Rick Pitino'd teams over the years and see a very similar pattern. Better be like this team than like Witchita. Frankly I do not know how the team and the coach were able to stay focused with all of the negavol crap.

A few years ago UConn was the 9th seed in the Big East tourney and went to win the Bug East and NCAA. It's all about how you play at the end. It doesn't matter what your seed is. You simply have to win.

Well honestly, I liked Pearl.

I did too, but he honestly left this program in a mess, a near disastererous mess. But that is over, done. Bruce is now in the enemy camp and the deal is done. Meanwhile our team is in the sweet 16 and our coach is Cuonzo Martin.

This Sweet 16 run absolutely erases the misery imposed on fans during the regular season. Great job and congratulations to Zo and the players. Is this a one year aboration due to a very talented team gelling at the right time? Can Zo get this kind of cohesion and production from players during a down year in talent? We will certainly see come next season. But for the time being, this has been an excellent run. Proud of their fight during a season where the fans (myself included) had packed their coach's bags for him. Keep rolling Big Orange.

If I could possibly show u me clapping I would.

What regular season?

It's all about the Dance, and we're still cutting a rug. Props to the men in Orange. AND, to CCM!

Twisted his ankle and seemed tentative after, just wondering if anything has been reported?

Could not be happier for the players, a few wins against Iowa, Umass and Mercer still does not change my mind about Martin. This team has a lot of talent and the regular season was not as good as it should have been. This has been a nice run but the opponents have not been top notch. At this point I still don't think he deserves an extension but I am sure he will get one.

He was limping for a while and seemed a little tentative for a short while afterwards, but continued to play. Hopefully it's nothing.

Hart now has the hand to pay Cuonzo as a top tier SEC coach and give him a major contract extension. Pearl is out of the way and actually will be a good promoter for SEC basketball. Martin is one tough dude with his best coaching years ahead of him. This team winning 3 NCAA tournament games in 5 days by double digits is down right incredible and Martin deserves all out support from the fan base.

No coach could have followed the charisma Bruce Pearl had and his unprecedented dismissal - complete chaos in the athletic program etc. that Martin walked into. I think the entire Vol family realizes they have a high quality person and impressive HBC by any definition. It all could not happen to a man who deserved success more and congratulations to Cuonzo Martin and his team.

The great thing about sports is that it unfolds on the court or playing field and pundits, fans, prognosticators, etc. can be proven dead wrong.

Have we had a disappointing season to this point? Don't think so. One of sixteen left, that is pretty impressive in my book. Go Vols.

Like others who are eating crow, I'm extending my apology to Coach Martin and the team. I'm one of the idiots that caved in a moment of bandwagon weakness and signed that stupid petition. I wish I could take it back, not because CBP is gone, but because I was wrong. Go Vols!!! Michigan will be tough.

My only expectation for this year was to make the tournament. Anything on top of it would've been gravy on the biscuit for me.

Right now I feel like I've been given country ham to go along with that heaping helping of biscuits and gravy. I'm gorging on an artery-clogging hoops diet...and loving every minute of it. Disappointing season? It needed to play out and compared with the goals set in the preseason before if could be fully-judged.

It has been a difficult decade in multiple sports for any Tennessee fan. Frustrations sometimes find their expression in strange ways. But right now, I'm letting good vibes in from the one men's sport that has actually given us many of our good moments over this period of time.

You combine this run with the football win over South Carolina and the emergence of the baseball program and maybe, just maybe, we've got more than a single moment or event to feel good about here.

For once, I can't think of anything to feel real gloomy about. That is a wonderful feeling.

I am extremely happy he has turned the team around and showing some emotion during the game. Cuonzo had criticism due him until 4 weeks ago. His team did not show up fired up and ready to play. He was a terrible game coach, made some very questionable calls and timeouts. A coach dont wont critized he/she should do their job. He has been doing a great job the last month. Why did it take him so long to get the team playing to their potential? Could it be with all the negative publicity he was getting he realized his job may be in jeopardy?

Why do you really care? They did well enough in the regular season to get in and now here we set. Also, don't get confused. If you and some of the other dissenters want to think they are playing better because of your complaining, think again. Nobody cares what you think. You heard it here first fella. Now be sure to ignore me and run to the mod.

NOBODY=HBC self-worth literature CRAP ain't working...give da man a :huggy:

He's 42. That's incredibly young, and considering he's already given us 3 20+ win seasons SHOULD be encouraging to our fans, since he's still growing and developing as a coach. Most schools would love to have a coach like ours, and most of us act like 1) we would be better head coaches than CCM or 2) we had a history of making Final Fours and winning championships before CCM arrived. It's embarrassing.

I've been a supporter from Day 1, and while I've scratched my head at a few losses and decisions over the years, I never thought Coach Martin was not giving us 100% effort in preparing and putting our team in the best situations he could. There's not much more that fans can ask for from a coach.

With that being said, I'm proud of our team and all they are accomplishing this year. I believe in our Vols. Beat Michigan!
