Does the first game set our expectations for 2007-08

I think its safe to say if we start out 3-0 we are in for a very good season. Should be able to make the title game. Hopefully we would be able to win it.

This is true. I remember another one loss team from last year that ended up in pretty good shape.

That is not always a bad position to be in, especially if you still win a mjor conference title. See e.g. 2006-2007 Gators.

Auburn and Cal are not in the same league but Cal and UK are. If we lose what does that say about our SEC hopes?

Honestly, I am not all that familiar with Cal. They play in the PAC-10 and they aren't USC, so in my feeble mind they must be fairly average, at best. Obviously, losing to Auburn at Auburn last year was not all that shameful.

That's the way to look at it. See if you lose to Cal it is not all over, it is just one game, an OOC game at that. If you lose you can rebound with SMU and then head into the SEC ready to whip some butt! If Cal were to win and then you win the SEC that would be great for both of us. :vava:

Biggest since we beat SC in 2003. This one could be even bigger than that because it will show we can hang with the vaunted SEC. This game is huge, whichever team losses is going to feel pretty dang bad, I can tell you that with certainty.

Yeah, only in our case it would be worse than last year, because we would have lost twice. In your case it will feel almost unbearable because you are the proud Volunteers and losing to the Bears would be shocking to all of you. That is why more than anything I want us to win this game. Not just for the team but for the reaction out of you guys. I know it is mean to hope something like that on you but I think it will make you guys hungry again and also humble you a little bit. You can use a little of both and we plan to deliver.

Teddy if Cal won this game would it be considered by you as one of the best wins of your season?
