Does Pruitt even have a clue?

He can probably spell the the word hire, so I would cast to many stones at him. Just an observation.

I am personally excited about the names mentioned for OC. It appears Pruitt is at least gauging interest from top coaches around the country with different offensive backgrounds and schemes. I am not sure who he will hire or when, so I will reserve my judgment until I see how it all unfolds, probably next season when I see the product on the field.

Why interview Freeze or Briles if they don’t fit your offensive philosophy? Makes zero sense. If they don’t fit why even entertain 2 guys that have a suspect background? My thinking is he’s an idiot. He tried to hire these guy hoping they’d conform to him and get them super cheap bc of there shady past. It’s one thing to strike out on one, but to strike out on 2? It’s they either said FU I’m not coming to work for you and have to change my style and for very little money, or Someone like Phil is preventing it. Both Pruit and Phil are literally learning on the job. Which shouldn’t be happening here at TN.

Posts like yours shouldn't be happening here at Tennessee, but it is what it is.

Pruitt should have never hired his buddy Will Friend. Going into business with friends is stupid. The OL got no better as the season progressed. Loyalty will get Pruitt fired and even worse will screw the program.

Stats show the OL improved YoY, DESPITE losing 3 veteran OL, then Kennedy, then Trey.

And what about research? Friend is well respected as a great OL coach.

Probably because the back end of the schedule was much easier than the front end. We couldn't block a soul all year. We couldn't even block Charlotte.

eh? YoY = "year over year" aka 2017 vs 2018. Not from beginning of the season to season's end. Seasons are relative and both had tough and easy games (though 2018 had the tougher sos by quite a bit).

Or maybe he is interviewing all the options to be able to find the right fit and to be able to make an informed decision. I know. It’s a crazy thought.

Their and there is not real difficult to learn. Get a third grader to teach you how to use it in a sentence.

lolwut? Who are these OCs that throw 75% of the time?!? Definitely not Briles or Yurcich.

Someone alert "pro style spread" OCs they are offending god's definitions of football styles.

Fwiw, spread is ubiquitous these days, pro and otherwise. You can be both spread and use pro concepts and make use of TEs. It's not unusual at all. If you are arguing "pro style" in the classic sense, nearly no one runs it exclusively anymore, maybe a dinosaur here or there.

Lastly, when did Pruitt set such strict parameters for his offense? I only ever heard him saying he wanted a strong run game. Briles has just that.

Yes, Briles and Yurcich have pass heavy offenses. They like to spread the defense out and run fast tempo. Many people refer to this as a spread offense.

Pruitt has said he wants to run the football and control the clock. Literally the complete opposite of those guys.

I heard that CJP doesn't play Clue. He's not particularly fond of board games, excepting checkers. He'll play that with the very old and the very young.

No.... you just don’t get it. A Briles, or Freeze, or Kiffen Offense’s could still mesh with Pruitts philosophy in a brilliant way.

What exactly is Pruitt’s “philosophy”? Because if the crap we saw this year is Pruitt’s “philosophy” then it won’t matter who we hire because it won’t win a lot of games.

I want to give CJP every benefit of the doubt, but this is bad look for UT. What are we waiting for? At this point I would be happy with Jim Chaney

One big circle jerk is all this crap is. It’s gonna be some mid major OC that we get and more suckage next year...what hopes I did have for next year might be about gone..

The amount of speculation on these boards is mind blowing. I read the same news as everyone else, but many can write complete story lines with just zero facts. I have never met Pruitt or had a conversation with him. I have never coached collegiate sports. I am not going to pretend I know the conversations he has or has not had with these candidates.

Speaking of a clue, some of these so called fans need to get one. Or since they were all successful football coaches they need to submit their resumes to Tennessee. With all their superior coaching knowledge and on field experience I'm sure things will turn around the first week since its so easy to do. LOL

OC's can make their program work anywhere with the coaches they are familiar with and full control of the offense. I don't think trying to fit into what somebody else wants you to do will work. I am beginning to wonder if this was part of Helton's problem.
