Does Poole Get A Shot Next Year?

TBH, I think for the time being, Oku should move into the slot. He should be getting the ball a lot more than he is.

Poole's stats were inflated because they came mostly against WKU's backups.

Kindof of hard to get "inflated" stats on 10 carries and 1 catch but I get your point. My point is, we saw good things out of Poole last spring and fall and everytime I saw him in live action he seemed to be a hard nosed determined runner that saw the hole and slammed it.

I'm just not impressed with Brown so far. Not that he doesn't have a bright future.

I know it is just a glimpse... for some reason CLK didn't stick with him... but Poole had three solid carries vs VT when Hardesty wasn't getting anything.

Poole did alright, but Brown is better. You just can't argue that.

Brown probably runs a faster 40 and was definitely higher rated. However it is still very much in question which one is the better back. Poole makes decisive, quick cuts. He shows excellent vision and runs through tackles. One thing that I don't believe is arguable is that Poole's burst to and through the hole was superior to Brown's this past season- granting the limitations of the comparison.

Until Poole actually gets his opportunity and Brown plays completely healthy, we just won't know. I'd say if this staff doesn't play Poole then we've got a definitive answer. But Kiffin was going to play Brown regardless. I'm really not arguing the decision since his intent was to show that UT would play Freshmen... but Poole didn't seem to get the touches his work had earned.

If he can add some muscle and power in the S&C program, Oku could end up being the best of all.

One thing I want to see cdd do is have two backs and one go in motion to the slot. I felt like kiffin really underutilized some of our weapons in that regard. all of our backs can catch and that can give college defenses nightmares.

+ 1 i expect to see a lot of short passes to players out of the backfield rich gannon style

Just promise me this. When Poole is listed as 4th string on the depth chart yet again this spring can we all stop pretending this guy is some kind of hidden gem?

based on practices I saw last year I expected Poole to get at least 50 carries...it felt like everytime i saw him get the ball in practice he would hit the hole and take it 20+ yards or lower the shoulder when he needed to.....no doubt about it I believe the guy deserves a shot...this guy has been waiting for his chance and I don't think he would disappoint... I'm not saying he should be the starter but he should be given a legitimate shot at it during the offseason.

BB is going to be the number 1 this year. He's going to be a monster, however he needs ALOT of blocking which it seems like we may not have. As far as who's starting, it's Bryce's job to lose IMO
