Just how close he is, closer than he'll probably ever be, to becoming a legend.

All he has to do is outplay Crompton against Northern Illinois, win the starting job, and play just well enough to beat Georgia (which I think is a winnable game with only average QB play, based on what I've seen out of the Dawgs this year).

That's it: instant UT legend, given the level of despair around the Vol Nation.

I agree with that somewhat. Beating Georgia would be great. But that legend status would be very short lived unless he had a phenomenal game against Bama.

Think all he needs to do is manage the game good and get the ball to our play makers.This isn't rocket science, all teams do this.Stephens I hope can to.

that if he lays an egg...we are really, really screwed. B.J. Coleman better get ready. i hope stephens plays lights out...

What do we know about Coleman? At one point wasn't he second string over stephens this year? and, if stephens just doesn't get it done do we dare go to 3rd string? what you think volnation?

Can we be worse than we are now? Only if we'd lost to UAB I guess. What do we really have to lose?

I dont know. Unless stephens is basically peyton manning cloned then we will likely be in for a very long year. I suppose it possible that the coaches are just idiots but I tend to believe coleman is 3rd string for a reason.

i guess my fear is that it is much easier to kill a legend than to create one. right now nick is a legend because of the mystery surrounding him. but a bad game and this guys confidence is going to be rock bottom. if that is the case do you think we say "jon sucks, nick sucks, b.j. wanna play?" it could be grand and it could be tragic come saturday...we shall see.

They should at least get Coleman out there for a little bit. If he is going to "possibly" be the future, I'd like him to have more experience that Crompton...not that experience has seemed to help JC in any way.:mega_shok:

whoever is QB Saturday will probably do ok against NIU. Not saying they will do great but ok. The true test for Stephans or coleman would be against GA or Bama.

Not a freaking chance beating an overrated UGA team that we've destroyed twice in a row makes anyone a legend.

Didn't we get Nick away from Ole Miss as a highly recruited qb from Texas? Well, if we did let's let him show if he was worth the notariety.

Getting on the field will be the hardest part! I am not convinced that he will see playing time:flush:
