As you have been reading on the ESPN ticker, Memphis has joined the Big East. We already dislike them in Basketball. Will there be more hate for them in Football?

I hope one day we can be a rival to some of the elite SEC programs again. Now we are Knoxville High to them...FLA, Bama, LSU, etc

U should prob just give up... Get into gardening or something..

As much as I hate to say this and I know yall are gonna pickle me, he's not far off. We don't like each other but its a bit of a one sided rivalry. Alabama manhandles us in everything football. Florida beats us in most things football(seven straight unfortunately), lsu was never really a huge rivalry, that may be the more even rivalry but it's not that even. We don't have much to go off of with a team we don't olay every year. We are on the way to making everything more intense in rivalries.

The rivalry is already in basketball. In order for it to be in Football UM has to improve it's recruiting. That will take a miracle to happen.

I am FROM Memphis. Hate tiger high cause their fanbase is even more deluusional than vandy! Only return there for family and ribs.

Still pissed off they they can clain a win in football. Coach Fulmer will always be remembered as the ONLY Tennessee Football Coach to allow tiger high to win. He is up for nomination to the tiger high sports hall of fame. The boosters are talking statue... :)

Unfortunately Peyton has to share in some of that loss also. The wife an I had gotten tix from a former Vol player to attend that mess. We walked away shaking our heads as Tiger fans tore down the goal post. Which by the way may have been the last time that ever happen in the Liberty Bowl.

Wow, this is going to be one long off season. The day Memphis Tiger's football becomes a rival, surely it will be the end of the world.

Not unless they actually start fielding a competitive team

I agree.. They already have that blip on us from 96. If their teams from a few years ago when they had that decent RB were playing us now then a rivalry might ensue. All you have to do is know TN football history and undestand Neyland was brought in specifically to beat Vandy. Vanderbilt was a power at one time!

They definitely will have an interesting recruiting angle now.

"Stay home and play in Memphis, and you have a shot at a BCS bowl every year. Maybe a better shot than at Tennessee, because you won't have to play Alabama, Florida and Georgia every single year, plus the SEC West champ. That said, we're in a legit AQ conference now, so there's no need to go all the way to Knoxville. Gas is expensive and there are no good BBQ joints over there anyway."
