Does media concoct offer was declined?

Now it's

1 person hears a rumor, tells someone else.

250 tweet it.

9 message board posters with inside sources confirm it.

24 hours later it was all false.

Social media has definitely not been to the benefit of the principles of journalism...It's been a mechanism for misinformation and jumping the gun.

Does media concoct offer was declined? Is that standard procedure when they hype a story to get the scoop? This Michael White story ran all day and turns out he has been on vacation with his family the entire week. Where's the I was offered and I declined link?

Your basic premise is right. If Michael White doesn't end up as Tennessee's next head coach Gary Parrish will either have to admit he was wrong with his tweet last night or claim that Michael White turned down an offer. He went too far out on the limb so it has to be one or the other and I suspect he will cover his butt with the latter like most writers that refuse to admit when they were wrong.

If we are in, we need to be all in because that exactly how the media will spin it. Whether it's true or not.

Actually the fan base did that all on its own. Where's all those better than Zo coaches beating down Hart's door? Reality is funny sometimes.

How did the fan base do that exactly? With an online petition? No, and you should wait and see who is actually hired before assuming a better coach than Martin won't be hired. All we have now are tweets without any named sources.

Ricky Byrds a coming
ESPN hit man. Wonder why we are hearing nothing about Missouri being turned down by the Louisiana Tech's of the world? Seems like they must not be on ESPN's hit list, huh? Why would anyone take the ball and run with it on anything they reported about Tennessee? Thought you said Michael White was on vacation in Gatlinbury! Guess not, huh? Seems like a lot of people in VolNation are helping ESPN with their agenda. Best just ignore them!

You know the ESPN hates us was cute about 10 years ago, but since it has been annoying. Blaming the media makes you sound as bad as an Alabama fan.

The media concocts 90% of everything they report. It doesn't matter if it's true. If there's no story, they make one up.

Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we start an anti-ESPN and national media petition protesting how mean they are to UT? Maybe thet'll work as well as the last petition.

IMO the last petition(even though I did not sign it) worked pretty well. It motivated. More than I can say for the head coach. JMO anyway.

You are obviously emotional and maybe should stick with soap operas, since that's where your multiple petition posts have led today. Whites deal has nothing to do with a petition, but I guess that doesn't matter does it.

If I had a dime for each time a potential coach was on vacation during an interview process…
