does kiffin need to back off a little?

Agreed. Although I'm sure Kiffin is under some sort of "gag rule" from Hammy as the "inquiry" proceeds, I'll be waiting for Kiffin to come out and support the team and the staffs recruiting methods.

I say up the ante. Give 'em hell...eff 'em all.

I, like many of you, have all the confidence in the world in CLK. I find it funny how he rags CUM all the time. I also remember him making some very very sarcastic remarks after the vandy game about the refs that were aimed straight at Mr.Slimeball. I support CLK 100%,but like the ole sayin goes...don't bite the hand that feeds you. Slive may not feed CLK but he is the head of the SEC. So what i'm askin is...do you think it would be wise for CLK to ease off some of his antics just a bit, because it's hard to imagine that without all of his shinategans(that i find funny) they would be making this big of a deal out of all of this. They are going around and interviewing most of our current recruits trying to dig up anything that they can find!! It just seems like we have really ticked off the wrong people. So should he maybe ease off the attitude a bit?????

I am going to go against the grain and say "yes, but only a little." He needs to learn to pick his battles and not be bombastic over everything. A little more tact wouldn't hurt, either.

I have been a huge supporter of this new staff so far. BUT, if he gets us sanctioned, I will quickly jump off the wagon. I have no interest in becoming Bama north.

Congrats to Douglas and Lathers for being the only Tenn players on the all freshman team. It is certainly great to see a staff bring in great players and let them play........wait a minute, they are both redshirt freshman and where recruited by Phil. Where in the you know where are all of the great freshman that Jane put out there?????

Herman Lathers making that team shows how noteworthy making that team is. You might also remember that if Phil were still here Douglas wouldn't be getting crap, because he'd still be a tight end stuck behind Stocker and Cottam.

It's also worth pointing out that without Kiffin's recruits, Prentiss Waggner is probably your starting free safety for the entire season. I'm sure that would have really helped in the ol' W/L department.

Kiffin is going to continue to be Kiffin and that is a confident smartass who speaks his mind. He is very smart and knows that he better have all the i's dotted and t's crossed because he will bring the microscope on himself. I only hope he doesn't get nailed for something that preceeded him. I think about 70% of what Kiffin does is calculated, the other 30% is that smartass coming out but he has an incredible ability to spin the situation to an advantage. When he begins to win, watch, he will calm down greatly and ripple the waters here and there as it suites the need of the program.

Absolutely not!!! As a matter of fact, he should ratchet it up about 3 levels. I think he's being too timid.

It's gonna be nice when Kiffin's mouth is the only thing the bammers and gators have to rip on us about.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. He may piss off the other fans but the other fans aren't his fans anyway, and they don't write his paychecks and support his team no matter how nice he is.

I think Kiffin had to do some of the things he did to grab the spotlight. I think he'll cool it down a little now but will never take any crap off anyone.

Kiffin needs to do whatever he wants. If it is saying subtle things to keep him out of trouble with the league, then so be it. He is doing his job, and even he admitted that some of the things that he said early on was for business and not something that he wanted to say personally. And you know what?..business has been good. He has UT on the map again as far as recruits go, and he is getting UT back on the map as far as games go. As of now, it doesn't matter what he says, it will always be taken out of context and tried to be used against us. The only other option for him is for Kiffin not to say anything again...ever. And that is not an option.

There is absolutely no advantage to UT or Kiffin in his commenting on this any further. Without question, the smart thing is not to talk about it any more.

Therefore, he will.

I am struggling with myself by agreeing with a florida fan, but your avatar has persuaded me, and I agree...I hope we can put this behind us once and for all and start talking about FOOTBALL once again.

I can't believe Lathers made it. He is mainly just out there getting in peoples way. I'm not saying he is not going to be good one day but this year he is not playing at a high level (not even close to Frazier or Nick). Now given, he is a freshman playing inside linebacker and that's a tall order. Maybe just being out there as a freshman (in the SEC) might get you in and I could see that actually.

Cheese gnawing ratfink? At least I know you approach these things from a starting position of rationality.

As to the Gators next year, what a huge question mark. You know, there are a lot of so-called experts who think Florida will be better offensively next year than this year. I'm not one of them. But I do think we will be a whole lot different with Brantley pulling the trigger.

Defensively, who knows. Soooo much talent, but experience problems will be signfiicant. And of course coaching changes.

I don't think Florida has a bad year. But who knows whether they will be SECE c-ship worthy next year?

Its amazing how much people misunderstood my comment.

Yeah, recruits and families of recruits love it when you stick your head in the sand about the bs charges and don't stand up for yourself or your program.

He can allay the concerns of recruits and their families directly. But every time he comments on the story, it makes it news again.
