Does John Currie have any ties to Bob Stoops...

He "languishes" and "OU meanders in mediocrity"??

Since he won the national championship in 2000, Stoops was 170-43, with 10 top 10 finishes in 16 seasons. He was also in the national title game in 2003 and in the College Football Playoff two seasons ago. How was that "languishing " and "meandering in mediocrity"? I don't get it.

Well done, but I can't believe you even had to type this. Languishes in mediocrity. In what world is being in the NC game 3 times (winning once) and making the playoffs mediocrity?

We have some winners on this site.

It means beating SEC teams in non-conference play is not indicative that Oklahoma could've won the SEC East, SEC West or SEC Championship.

I obviously disagree. Oklahoma would immediately easily be the best team in the SECe and would have a far better chance to beat Alabama than any other team in the SEC. It would be Oklahoma vs Alabama in the SECCG for as far as the eye can see.

I'm not so sure about that, KB.

We played Oklahoma to a tie in regulation in our house the season before last. In that place, on that day, we were peer competition with them.

Was that a fluke? I don't think so. Many even think we were significantly the better team and "by God, should've won."

I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to say we were significantly better. I do think we were peer competitors.

That was two seasons ago. Have we gotten better, or worse? Hard to tell with last season being so stop-and-go, hot half / cold half. Maybe the fairest thing to say about 2015-->2016 is that we kind of temporarily plateau'd..

So the big question is, do we take another step up this season, or do we fall back?

If we take a step up, we're definitely as good as 2015 Oklahoma. If we fall back, maybe not.

So I'm not going to be so quick to conclude that Oklahoma would win the SEC East every year if they moved to our division.

TL;DR: There's a good chance we're evolving/growing into the class of the East. We'll see this fall if that's true. Fingers crossed. Go Vols!

Yep Remy my friend, if you're gonna tell me that Bob Stoops, who's played in 4 national title games, won a national title, won 12 conference championships, won 190 games in 18 seasons, and won 80% of his games over 18 years, has been languishing in mediocrity......yeah, we're definitely gonna have a friendly disagreement. If someone, anyone could guarantee me a coach could, over the next 18 seasons, replicate for Tennessee exactly what Stoops has done for Oklahoma the last 18 seasons, I'd take it in a heartbeat and I feel 100% confident that 99% of all Vol fans would as well. Anyone who wouldn't has lost his mind imho.

And to think, 4/5/6 years ago fans in Norman were griping about him!

Big game Bob is probably a little burnt out.. Would be a upgrade from the current head coach here though.. Kind of wish there was a young, mean, spiteful, hungry to prove himself coach out there, just ready to take the resources Tennessee has and make this a powerhouse program again. Basically a Lane Kiffin, minus the douche factor.

.....other than being an AD in same conference that Stoops coached in. Not that we are looking for a new Head coach. I understand that AD's always have a list of possible replacement coaches in their back pocket.....just in case.

Called him last night and JONES will be fired at ORANGE CARPET DAY SATURDAY and STOOPS will be named head coach oh oh what a ORANGE CARPET DAY TENNESSEE WILL HAVE.:eek:lol:

Stoops will go into TV HIS COACHING DAYS ARE OVER. I seen where FOX HAS ALREADY CONTACTED his agent about a job.
