Does Jalen Hurd Seem a Bit Too Tall For a Tailback?

Why does everyone slam the OP for just stating his view? It's not like he's trashing the kid. He's just asking a question. People are quick to attack other members on here. Geesh

We're not bashing the OP. We're just tired of hearing the same old crap about him being too tall to play running back.

Odds are stronger than a resurgent Urban Meyer chest pain, that the op was perfectly aware that this was a trolltool utilized since Jalen committed...probably wanted a long living-spit filled thread....And mission accomplished :vava:

104.5 had him on there talking about the possibility of playing defense! Anybody else hear this?

According to Hurd, he has no idea what you're talking about. His only recent interview was on Ainges show the other morning.

For the trolls....

1) JH is a RB, and he will stay a RB.
2) He is 6'3. Only reason ESPN had him at 6'4 is because they measured his massive faux hawk fro too.
3) Not getting any taller. One advantage to his injury is that he's had to be x-rayed a ton. When family inquired, docs said he's done.
4.) How many guys do u know that are high school seniors that are 6'3, 225-230 running consistent 4.4s?
5) He can not only dance between the tackles, run you over & run past you, he has big hands and can make ridiculous catches, make you miss and then dart to the house. He's an offensive weapon. Enjoy!

We will! It's VERY inconvenient to people making up stories in the guise of facts when you get on here...as a person close to our favorite new star....and shoot it down with such coldheartedness :cray: Maybe let them enjoy their made up moment a post or two before using your sniper rifle to snap the cord holding the piano above their head? :vava:

Lanky - ungracefully thin and tall.
synonyms: tall and thin, thin, slender, slim, lean, lank, skinny, spindly, scrawny, spare, bony, gangling, gangly, gawky, rangy

Kid weighs 230-235..... And if you've watched any of his highlights, there's no way you'd call him "ungraceful".

Wish to hell people would leave this topic alone. He was recruited to play rb at UT and that's what he's gonna do.....and very well IMO.

Like JWitten was recruited to play DE and RCobb was recruited to play QB at ky?

Like JWitten was recruited to play DE and RCobb was recruited to play QB at ky?

Mainly because those players ACTUALLY PLAYED those positions AT A HIGH LEVEL...big leap from a record breaking 5 star RB reinventing himself at linebacker or TE...where he most likely would have a much smaller impact :banghead2:

Your point? Unless you don't believe the kid every single time he's been interviewed and you don't believe we need a stud rb because we're loaded at the position, I guess your statement could have some validity.

Eric Dickerson 6'3 220.
Jalen Hurd 6'3 225.

Hmmm...

He runs a sub 4.4 at that size. If you wanna question whether that's legit or not you'll find out when we see him here for the first time.

Maybe in a wildcat package but he's an I back. A back like him can't function in a spread package!

Man josh malone is quick too. Was jus watching the highlight of the first game of the season that Hurd got hurt in. That long td run on the first play Malone comes flying up behind him.

Is he going to be healthy enough to play in the army all-american game? Or will he sit it out and be ready for spring

"Tennessee coaches were on the road once again on Tuesday and that included head coach Butch Jones who was in and around Nashville once again checking in on some 2015 prospects before heading to Hendersonville to see five-star running back commitment Jalen Hurd.

Hurd's shoulder continues to heal on pace for him to be apart of spring practice and that's a good sign for Hurd as he will certainly be pushing to earn a lot of meaningful snaps for the Vols come March when spring practice opens."

-Fort

Copied that from the recruiting forum. Sounds like he will be good to go when he gets here but no point in risking anything in the army game.

Also saw where he was on TSR and said his healing is ahead of schedule. He said he is currently 6'3 225 and running a 4.3 - 4.4. He even went to the extent of getting his growth plates tested and he is done growing.

I realize it's not the primary purpose of a RB but how good are this kid's hands? I'm just picturing how big a mismatch it would be to have someone roughly akin (physically anyway) to Vernon Davis coming out of the backfield. Sounds like a nightmare.

At first glance I thought this thread said "Does Jalen Hurd seem a bit too SMALL for a tailback?" :eek:lol:

I was like "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?????"

Matt Forte is having a pretty good game right now and has similar size to Hurd. Forte is 6'2ish and around 220 I believe.
