Did We care that Peyton Mannings' dad Archie was a Ole Miss legend? Not a chance. It is what you do for US being UT that we remember and care about.

I voted. When can we have another poll? I can't wait. I vote in every one of them.:p

Vince Dooley was always a class act. If C.M. Newton had a son in coaching, you know he would be well-raised also.

Someone just voted yes so they could claim "First!".

Haha! I actually voted yes, because it does concern me a little. Especially after last year with K***** bolting to his dream job. Mark Richt's seat is a little warm, and if he's fired there's no doubt GA will throw a nice offer Dooley's way if he's successful here. And he would be worshiped there in a way the gumps idolize Nick Saban. I'm sure it would be at least tempting.

Btw, I didn't even look at the count before I voted and boy am I outnumbered!

Doesn't bother me at all. On a side note, my dad mentioned last Saturday that it was a little weird for him rooting for a Dooley. I guess some can still remember facing Vince on a yearly basis.

I resemble that remark. But seriously, if it were Spurrier, Jr., I might wonder. But I truly believe Derek wants to make his own name before he is "worshipped" as someone put it. If he can do it quick enough to suit the Vol fans with the pull (to most of us, we read that as $$$$), IMO, this is a destination job for him. The only concern I have is someone that has that influence wanting him as our AD instead of coach.

It is not an issue with me. As I remember, the Bowden boys coached against their dad regularly. At least Vince is gone and there is no "loyalty" to UGA built into CDD particularly after the way they dumped Vince as AD for that idiot with the red panties.

Does seem odd to me to hire a coach who is the son of a former coach at one of our biggest rivals. Curious if that bothers anyone as a fan?

yes, but it bothers me more that he was 17-20 at La Tech..

Oh well, we've got him and he's undefeated right now..

Go Vols

Maybe if his name was Spurrier or Meyers, but we respected Dooley. . .

At least he comes from a background that understands the importance of SEC football!

I think we should find a coach who has never played or coached anywhere else. Only then will we know hes a true volunteer. Ohh wait, we already had one of those, he got ran off. Ohh well, who cares?
