Does Fulmer Survive?

Many thought Pruitt was a decent hire considering the fiasco of a coaching search. Many even said he will leave us to go to Alabama when Saban retires.

Yes, Fulmer survives because this was the best hire he could have made given the circumstances.

You buying that last part? OKEY!

Some people here would make love to Fulmer's jockstrap. He deserved to be fired when he was the coach. Yet, people act like he's our one and only savior. Never understood it. There's no changing their mind though.
I’ll never understand how the last decade of disasters doesn’t change the CPF haters minds. He’s not our savior, not anymore, but when outside coaches see a program cannibalize one of its own is it little wonder how we ended up with Dooley? Jones? Pruitt?

How was he cannibalized (if that's even a word)?! He's the freaking AD!

I could be wrong.......but didn’t they try?

No, they cut off contact with Leach's agent once Fulmer and Davenport grabbed the reigns. Leach's agent was under the impression that they had a deal in place to hire him. We've screwed up every time when it came time to hire a football coach. Picked Kiffin over Gary Patterson, picked Dooley over Brian Kelly, picked Botch, and had Leach, a proven head coach, hired and turned him down for a guy with 0 experience or track record running a program.

Auburn has proven time and again you can fire your way out of messes if you aren't an idiot with hiring.

Also I could be wrong, but I doubt the old Pirate could get Tennessee out of this mess. Although it would prob be more fun to watch and listen to.

I really think at this point it would take a proven, consistent winner to fix things ( most wouldn’t be willing, and you would have to over pay for anyone). Again you can always get lucky. And I guess if given enough time, maybe Pruitt could get it turned around. But for now it looks like dog crap, it smells like dog crap, and as a life long fan I simply have to eat dog crap.

Yea the Patterson deal is and will haunt Tennessee for a long time.

Just think what Patterson could have done and still be doing here..........Tennessee wasn’t a decade or more into a dumpster fire back then.

Right now? I feel he would have at least beaten this bunch.

Beat Spurrier in the Swamp in his last home game in Florida maybe? Or how about in 04 when he took an unranked team into Miami that was top 5.. and there’s Bama where shall we start w record vs bama?
Miami was 03. What happened when other SEC teams upgraded their coaches? Spurrier promptly came back and whipped Phil at Neyland in 05. You really want to hang your hat on beating pitiful bama teams in the 90’s?

UT was 18th

I hope Tennessee students roll every tree on campus tonight just to make that point.

We all know that the train wreck continues. And UT likely will face a very difficult decision after this season given the way buyout payments keep piling up because of the continued incompetence with hiring coaches.

But, the Schiano fiasco, Currie firing, and Fulmer/Pruitt hirings were an “in your face” to the Haslams by Davenport. Davenport has been sent packing and it will be very easy to pin this Pruitt disaster on Fulmer.

Do we end up with the worst of all worlds? Another Haslam puppet as the AD and another Haslam influenced hire as HFC? Possibly Schiano?

Maybe my fears are unwarranted, but I could see this very power play and it getting worse before it gets better. Talk me off the ledge.

Of course. His football pick is 13 games into his career.
Basketball is taking off like gangbusters.

Fulmer is more than fine right now.
