Does Fulmer go Kicking and Screaming?

I really believe after today Fulmers fate is sealed. Do you guys think he will retire with class or will he have to be fired?

I hope he does the right thing but I really wonder if he will just try to make up more excuses to keep his job.


I was an Fulmer apologist up until the Cal game this year and today sealed the deal for me. I am a rat that is getting off this sinking ship.

I think Phil doesn't go (not that I don't want him to) but I think he'll get next year too. I just can't see them giving him the boot. I wanted to see it when we went 5-6. I thought that season was the culmination of his bad coaching style...but everyone thought last year was good or something. I thought there were about three games last year that his coaching was a direct cause of our loss or close calls.

He will not step down after this year.

no way he retires or gets fired, he'll say we'll go watch film and go to work and get better even though that's not worked for the last decade

that is a good analogy. another analogy could be getting in a stock right at its peak. as it slides lower, you stick with it, maybe even put more money into it to add to your position at a cheaper price. "it's gotta turn around sometime," you figure. eventually, you capitulate as it just continues to slide lower. you dump your entire position for a huge loss. then a bottom in the stock is created, because every who wants out has gotten out. after all that bloodletting and frustration for everyone involved, once they are all flushed out, it begins to head higher.

maybe fulmer loses his last shreds of support this season. everyone capitulates. of course he could turn this thing around (unlikely) and somehow pull off another season comparable to last year, which would secure his job for even more time. to compare it with the stock, all that would do would create hope and delay more selling.

i think that fulmer is more likely to retire with class than be fired. but not before he makes more excuses to keep his job.

How do we communicate with the administration to let Hamilton know of the disdain we feel now toward the coach?

This is my point. People like us that has supported him all these years are fed up and that is a very bad thing for him.

Hamilton knows that the situation is getting very very bad.

utsports.com has an administration page that has email addresses for all involved.

I've emailed Hamilton, Fulmer, and a couple others already.

all depends on how big hamilton's b*l*s are. fulmer has talked about retirement several years ago. he wanted to spend more time with his family, he is still here.

Yep...my sentiments too!!!
I gave Fulmer a hall pass after the Cal game...but this program is fading fast. It's time for Fulmer to go. We will be playing for 2nd or third in the SEC East from now on.
Some people are OK with 7 or 8 wins a year, but I'm not! Let's clean house and start over.
For those of you that don't think Fulmer should go answer me this question? Who took control of the Special teams...hmmmm ...Fulmer? Who is the Offensive line "guru" hmmmmmm...Fulmer?.....and finally what has cost us dearly the last few years???...Special teams and rushing the football has stunk up the field! The problem is who would we get for a coach. All of the bright young football minds are already coaching in the SEC...Saban, Meyer, Miles...not to mention Spurrier. Who is out there for the Vols to go after? TLK1012
