He seems to give alot of folks ammunition. I love his candid answers and appreciate them as a fan but some people say he blames too much on the players or says that he doesn't know quite often.

I'll give an example. During his press conference to kick off MTSU week, he was asked what Worley gives him that Matt Sims doesn't. He said that alot of the things that Worley does better is unkown. What does that mean exactly? Is he given away the fact that there's not a REAL answer to that question?

Nice way of saying Simms is not that good.

Nice way of not slamming Simms who probably works hard but is not SEC caliber. Unlike some posters here, he has class and a lawyer's mentality to go along w/ his football smarts

A HC can't worry about his perception to a group of internet fans, many of which know nothing about the game or running a program.
I think that comment basically says that they know what Simms can do, but don't know Worley's ceiling yet, so they are going to try and find out.

This whole thread is a reach at best.

The fans will likely take it that way but the media around here are like sharks, waiting for you to stumble and fall in. I just wonder if his candidness will help or hurt him a year, two years, or even three years down the road.

Candidness only helps, in my opinion. Giving guarded answers that makes the Coach looks like he's out of touch with reality is what gets him eaten alive by the media and the fanbase.

I for one love Dooley's personality and approach he takes to the media. Today though I personally didn't like the extent he took on the possibility of MTSU beating us. I mean it's very possible and yeah an in-state rivalry is good. But this fanbase is reeling and you don't want to say that in a room with John Adams and Jimmy Hyams. This week's articles and sports talk should be really depressing...

These are the real guys that worry me. Adams blasted Dooley in yesterdays paper and I believe Jimmy is the one who asked the question. Of course, Clay's questioning will only get worse as we continue to struggle.

Whenever Dooley says "I don't know," I always take that to mean "I know, but I'm not throwing that coach/player under the bus." It's coach speak.

If Dooley even hinted that MTSU might beat UT in football on our home field, that's pretty unnecessary. Why put such a possibility out there? Losing to MTSU is not an option. Ever. If he believes it, it's even worse. .

If I were a sensationalistic media vulture, there's my headline: "Dooley Says MTSU Can Beat Downtrodden Vols" or "Dooley Says 0 for October Could Become None in November."

There may be many things that Dooley can improve upon, but how he handles the pressers is at the very low end of the priority list.

We lose and he says to much.
We win and no one cares.
This same thing can be applied to about 78.9% of threads on this site.

Exactly. I come on this site to find UT news ,but I always leave pissed off at how stupid UT fans are. It is bad and only getting worse. UT fans are becoming my most hated fan base quickly.

Personally, I would love to hear a straight-from-the-hip opinion from Dooley regarding John Adam’s snide and sniveling journalistic style. Then, let’s see whether Adams has the guts to quote Dooley verbatim.

I can empathize. Based on the amount of verbal venom spewed on this forum, the Environmental Protection Agency would have no choice but to declare Volnation a toxic waste dump, were it to ever conduct a formal analysis.

I would love to see Dooley verbally knock Clay Travis off of his solid gold Vandy high horse
