So far, we have Jonathan Crompton and Nick Stephens. There is also a ex-Red Sox minor leauge pitcher that signed for 4 years of UT. I never remember the guy's name and the news was kinda squeezed in on the table of contents page of Football Time magazine. Please help me if I leave anyone out.

So what do you feel about the situation? I personally think this new offence will be a lot simpler than the previous 3 or 4 systems. It looks like it will concentrate more on the running game. Do we need to give Crompton one last chance? If i'm correct, he was actually one of the best QB prospects in the nation.

It's entirely possible that Crompton will find some level of success in this new offense. But, I don't see him blowing up or anything like that. Crompton will be our starting QB in September....he'll get his chance.

Crompton will be just fine IMO, he isn't in a complicated offense and all he will have to do is manage, not win games but manage the game if we have a lead because Kiffin won't put him in situations where he has to win games for us...He will have to make big plays just like all QB's do but he will be just fine in Kiffin's offense

If Stephens and Crompton have about equal ability, the younger player usually gets the nod. I think this happens to Crompton, he gets benched for the younger player.

he was a 4 star recruit. he was recruited by the likes of VA, Miami (FL), UGA, UNC, USC, USCjr, and Clemson.

obviously the number of stars doesnt mean anything until you actually play, and we've seen his actions to this point. he didnt do bad filling in for ainge occaisionally though. this offense should allow him to be a better QB, but we will just have to wait and see if he "blows up"...

...not betting on that horse though. not yet.

Crompton will be the starter in September. The guy seems like a good kid and hopefully he can have a good season, but I'm not holding my breath.

In all fairness to JC, he has yet to have a stable offense including coaching without some kind of "waffling" change in each of his 4 yrs. I think he'll be fine in a simple, "drive" oriented offense.

I think JC will be fine.. I think the Offense was so complex last year that no one caught on to it...

I'm giving him one, even though I still think Nick is better, Crompton wasn't as bad as he looked last year, the guys we got aren't Jevan Snead or Colt McCoy, but there's no way they're as bad as they seemed last year.

Yes, he deserves another shot. We don't have a better QB on the roster, and he's paid his dues. If he can complete 55% of his passes, average between only 20-25 throws a game, and commit less than 10 turnovers I'll consider that a success. Because if that happens, we've managed to limit opportunities for the opposing offense and establish a power run game.

I just want to see us win some ball games, and at this point I don't care who he puts in at quarterback.

It's every position I'm going to be interested in now (looking for the difference in performance this year vs. last year), not just qb. (That's with the exception of EB of course. )

that's not entirely true, if eric gets injured, we could be in trouble.

Crompton will be the starter because we have no one else . Stephens is terrible and Crompton is just alittle better. We better just run the ball or give it to Jones for him to do work on the outside.

it's laughable that you put down Crompton and Stephens and then act like Jones has shown something in his time here that he can create on his own.

Unless eric is missing a limb, he'll probably play. Wasn't he hurt all last season with his shoulder, and look how he did.

My point was I won't be looking at Eric for improvement like I will the others.

If he gets hurt and doesn't play I'll go into hibernation until 2010.

it's either that or have mediocre/sub par qb play with stephens and or rozier for the entire year. stephens probably played at his best last year and still lost us games.......and rozier will be lucky if he ever sees the field with the second team. IMO crompton has way more upside than either of them. i don't know how you couldn't afford to give him one more shot

All I can say is that I lost all confidence in Crompton after last season. He threw so many balls in the ground that is was like he just gave up. I believe everyone deserves a second chance but we should get Crompton off the field after about the 3rd offensive series of the first game when he proves absolutely nothing.

Whether you think he deserves another chance or not, he will be the opening day starter....IMO
