When moms and dads make their decisions for their kids next year will today come back to bite UT? I thought clk went a bit over the top but nothing horrid, however, he is very brash and this is the south? I know some here will trash me for raising this issue, but ok... I just wonder if any publicity like this is good. I know pti said great but he did call urban a cheat basically and clk has not coached a game yet, the negative press worries me abit. Anyone else? I hope it goes in oiur favor and am glad we have a coach with testicular fortitude if you will.... But was this too much

Goodness knows Saban and CUM's brashness has hurt their recruiting. And Miles is not far behind.

I agree. I'm still up in air on how I feel about it. Calling him a cheater may be over the top. Just spoke with some older UT fans and they were very upset over how it made university look

People are way too sensitive in this day and age. People need to get over it. He was just trying to excite the crowd. I'm glad we have a coach with no fear and confidence in himself and the school.

Kiffin was admitedly wrong about this being an NCAA infraction. However, repeatedly calling a kid while he is on a trip to another school is at best annoying. Coaches ought to at least respect the player's time and allow him to evaluate the school. Maybe the NCAA ought to make this a violation.

Well...I'll take "Kahunas" and someone willing to take it to CUM, CNS et.al. over CPF getting slapped around by half the SEC coaches ie; CSS, with a weak or NO response to jabs...except "we'll work like heck to get better"

For example:

CSS: "You can't spell Citrus without UT"
CPF: (should have said): You couldn't spell cat if I spotted you the C and the T

all CPF did was pucker

We need a guy like CLK that will punch these ego maniacs in the mouth and won't back down!! Sure CLK apoligized...with a wink and prolly "the bird" under the podium!

Tell them the younger fans are more concerned with how the annual beat downs made the university look.

NO!!!!
This is truly not a bright way of looking at it, let me clarify........

Does it take class to leave Tool-time Teblow and Harvin in the game with less than 4 minutes left, while at home and up by 30 points, throwing 50 yard bombs down the field, against 2nd and 3rd string freshman DB's??

Does it take class to lie to a professional organization repeatedly about accepting a job, then replace a former legendary coach's son (from same organization, Dolphins).......

Does it take class to cheat in recruiting?? I'm not saying that Satan and CUM are cheaters, but there are those out there who would state that.......

Rule #1 - When dealing with CLASSLESS individuals, no class is needed.........any more questions??

Can we not win with class also though

Agreed. However...CLK is a young coach, and he is going to step on his toes here and there. As long as he's man enough to admit it, and apologize, I'm okay with that.

This guy is clearly a great football mind...great pedigree...hired a great staff...proved (in two months) he can recruit...wants to coach in the SEC...and is clearly not going to back down from "the big dogs".

I'm not seeing a real problem here.

We'll know for sure by the end of this season.

Go Vols.

I'm with you. Kiffin not only called out Meyer but another high school coach. I think Kiffin needs to chill out. He's making a lot of noise before his team even sets foot on the field.

That being said, I don't think it's going to negatively effect Tennessee in recruiting. I just hope he doesn't continue to make falsified comments, because it really does make UT look classless.

Fwiw the PTI guys both LOVE the fact that Kiffin is stirring the pot. They pointed out that Neuheisel went right after Pete Carroll when he got to UCLA. You go right after the big dog and let them know that you're not scared. I agree totally. FU UF.

I think that we should worry about CLK's actions and behaviors only if the players start getting in trouble with the law, don't graduate, don't win and/or make it into the NFL. Until then...CLK carry on. If the parents of athletes see that thier kid goes to a place where winners go and excel on and off the field, that's all they really care about. The coach could be a world class jerk but if he takes care of his athletes then he is doing his job. The public opinion(i.e. other SEC fans and coaches) really doesn't matter.
