Does CBJ recruit better and McIlwain develop players better?

Didn't mean to start a which team is better discussion or even a which coach is better thread. I was just interested in (1) the trouble Mac seems to have in landing top rated recruits, and (2) what I perceived as trouble Butch seems to have in turning top rated recruiting classes into dominant teams.

Im not sure you could argue against either of those points very well.

#1 - That's a head-scratcher to me. I'm not sure why he'd have trouble getting top-rated recruits. Florida should be a very easy place to recruit to. Even if you halfway know what you are doing, you should be one of the 2 or 3 best recruiting teams in the conference.

#2 - This is because Butch is just not a very good game coach. Period.

Mac stepped into a job with a loaded defense. Butch did not. Mac has had an easier job.

I agree. I don't think that either one of them are particularly good coaches overall.

Butch would probably have done as well as McElwain has done if he had his job. I think that McElwain is a better in-game tactician than Butch, but their player development abilities appear to be about even. Butch is a better recruiter.
