Does anyone understand the holdup on stimulus?

I don't get why these idiots are voting on 2000 when the 600 are are already going out. Should it be 1400 ?

Anybody got a McConnell translator handy? Pretty sure it's a solid attempt to state the exact opposite of reality.

“Socialism for rich people is a terrible way to help the American families that are actually struggling,” McConnell said on the Senate floor Thursday. “Let me say that again. Borrowing from our grandkids to do socialism for rich people is a terrible way to get help to families who actually need it.”

Firm run by Elaine Chao and Mitch McConnell's family got PPP loan

A ‘Bridge’ to China, and Her Family’s Business, in the Trump Cabinet (Published 2019)
Ms. Chao has no formal affiliation or stake in her family’s shipping business, Foremost Group. But she and her husband, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, have received millions of dollars in gifts from her father, James, who ran the company until last year. And Mr. McConnell’s re-election campaigns have received more than $1 million in contributions from Ms. Chao’s extended family, including from her father and her sister Angela, now Foremost’s chief executive, who were both subjects of the State Department’s ethics question.

and at least some of the 600s have already been posted to bank accounts as of this morning

Yep, went online to pay a bill last night. There was $1200 set to be transferred on the 4th. Nice thing about retirement income and not needing as much income is that we probably won't trip the income cutoffs for "free money".

Keystroked cash. Makes one wonder as there really is no money to keystroke.

Watching The Human Turtle™ burn down the GOP with his ass-hattery over this is the Christmas present I never got.

When Bernie and Trump are both mocking 'THT', you can't help but laugh.

I can't wait for Hawley to dive into the election fraud shenanigans on the Senate floor.

Biden's push for $2,000 stimulus checks opposed by Manchin: 'Absolutely not'

Sen. Joe Manchin said Friday that he would "absolutely not" support sending Americans a $2,000 stimulus check, potentially dealing a fatal blow to a key part of President-elect Joe Biden's coronavirus relief plan.

Twin victories by Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in the Georgia run-off elections this week clinched Democrats a 50-50 split in the Senate, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris able to cast a tie-breaking vote. The narrow majority will likely make moderate senators like Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, some of the most powerful members of the chamber.

“Absolutely not. No,” Manchin told The Washington Post on Friday, when asked whether he supports a fresh round of stimulus checks. “Getting people vaccinated, that’s job No. 1.”

But there are enough republicans who do support it, so Manchin’s vote won’t matter.
