Is any one tired of hearing the same old story every year about the team being fighters and we will find a way to make it there? Is anyone tired of having to rely on 2 other teams choking worse at the end of the year than we did at the beginning to have a chance at the sec champ game? Is anyone asking for more than to be competitive with all of the sec and to bring home an sec champ every now and then? Is anyone asking for more than a token return on the largest recruiting budget in the country? Does anyone see anything any different this weekend?
I don't think he will ever give it up voluntarily, even if they give him an ultimatum. I have heard the same opinion from multiple reporters who have covered the program for years. It's just an opinion, but when push comes to shove I think he would rather poison the well for years to come than walk away. If the team continues to lose games this is going to be ugly. It will be much worse than when Majors left because Phil will fight to stay and there is a significant portion of the fanbase who will stand behind Phil no matter what. Johnny had some support at the end but not nearly as much as Phil currently has.Whether anyone here thinks he should be fired is irrelevant. If you don't believe me ask hamilton.
But to answer you question. I think behind closed doors they should basically force him to retire or resign. That would be better than firing him and he deserves that respect.
