I do. This defense is thin as your grandpappy's scalp, with glaring weaknesses in several places. And a real difference-maker out today in BY. Yes, I wish we had blitzed more, and I hate it when our corners play such a cushion. But that said, we almost never looked lost and completely out of position as we so often have in the recent past. Even on the halfback pass our LB was not far away and the pass had to be a good one to be complete. Bottom line, this defense absolutely played well enough to post a win. No way could they overcome 3 turnovers and quality play by a top level QB who will be playing on Sundays soon. I say Coach Banks has started well and has something to build on. Proud of our D effort.

Idk. I thought Rodney Garner was highly thought of, yet our pass rush is nonexistent.
Straight push was good for the most part. But the Pitt qb was in shotgun and you're just not gonna get to a good fairly mobile guy with simple push from from 3 or 4. Thus I wish we had blitzed more. But its a start. They didn't run the ball effectively, in my opinion.

Yep. One bright spot was the defense. They are super thin and made some good plays when they needed to. They did enough to win the game IMO. Even giving up 41 points.

Arkansas just did. Almost everyone is in shotgun now and there are teams that do get good pressure with 3 and 4.

I liked the blitz and sack with Theo Jackson. Hope we can do more of that.

27 points in just the 2nd quarter alone, Defense had spurts of solid play but they are not SEC caliber yet
Didn't say they were SEC top shelf caliber yet. But I see a foundation that gives me hope. Versus the gloom and doom everyone predicted before the year. Everyone said the offense would have to bail out a terrible defense. But today, the D played well enough to win IMO. And that is a good start for that side. Props for Coach TB

No! Should have won this game!

Yes, I feel all of the coaches have improved the play of their particular group. LB's look much better than in spring. DL is vastly improved over last year. I am undecided on the WR play yet, but the QB's have not thrown much that was catchable.

41 of 'em
Some bright spots though
But there's not a DC worth his salt that is happy giving up 41, no matter what the reason

Defense played well in spite of the point total. Some of those points were given up by the offense. And we just don't have enough depth yet. Unfortunately, it's going to take at least a few classes before we have the depth we need.

Defense stood solid for many stretches of the game, but also struggled for drives at a time. I like that the guys look hungry and are working together to make tackles.

We did good against the run (until the last possession). Bubble screens and/or passing plays behind the Line of Scrimmage were well defended.

But we're exposed in the middle of the field in the passing game. Pitt kept going back to the middle when they really needed a play and we could never stop it. I imagine 3 of their TD drives incorporated multiple completed passes right down the middle.
This is the one part that bugged me, because otherwise we were the much better team. We couldn't stop one part of the field.

Are you serious. This defense has gone 8 quarters without sniffing a turnover.

I will give them credit for keeping Pitt under 100 yards rushing but we still found a way to lose the game.

We allowed them to go 8-20 on 3rd down, and 2-2 on fourth.

We only gave up 3 points off our 3 turnovers. Read that again.....
Which means our standard D gave up 38 points on its own. We still can't cover a slant pass to save our life, we can't get off the field. We have no real pass rush. We don't have a single turnover all year.

What planet does he deserve props on?
