Does anyone remember Horris Morris, a defensive tackle from mid-late eighties? One of my first memories of Tennessee football was hearing John Ward call out "Horris, Morris." I've tried googling him, and cannot come up with anything. I don't even know if that is how you spell his name. Does anyone know anything about him or have a link to some thing?

I would guess it's Horace

EDIT: Found this 2005 Recruiting Class of The University of Tennessee football team

School is on Miami

Thanks a lot.

I just read he is from Miami, on another article from 1993...

* 2 Tennessee defensive end Horace Morris, a Miami native, says he was embarrassed to be from Florida because of the way the fans behaved. "Those were the rudest fans I've ever seen in my life. They threw hot dogs at us. They threw Cokes at us. They talked vulgar about us the whole time."

Gator baiters: Tennessee's rivalry with Florida has never been hotter than it will be Saturday when they battle for position in the SEC East - includes related article Sporting News, The - Find Articles

...and he was drafted in the 5th round by the Jets. Now if I can only find a pic. Horace Morris kicks ass in my book.

I think he did the hypesman pose over a Florida QB after the sack, was it Shane Matthews? I'm not sure.

Wow........What a blast from the past.....also, Craig Faulkner, that guy would jump in the middle of I75 during rush hour in ATL if he thought he could make a catch. Played a bunch of games with a broken wrist, too.....if my memory isn't too addled by years of work and child rearing.

Horace Morris's mother was interviewed during the '92 Florida game. They had just survived Hurricane Andrew.

He was a rush specialist defensive end and lead the team in QB sacks. He was very fast, but too small to play DE in the pro's. (I always thought it was an injustice that he wasn't made a LB in college, but I guess they played him where he was needed.)

BTW, I am fairly sure he was a prop 48 sucess that got a college degree and he was Co-Captain in 1993 his senior year!:salute:

that was the the most insane rain I have ever experienced during a game....was it Mose Phillips that broke off that long run?

Indeed it was Mose Phillips on some kind of Screen or Swing pass I think. The footage of him running in the open field and taking it to the house through all that water flowing across the old super turf is one of the coolest highlights ever.

I remember one of Horace Morris's first games. I was at the game and Bobby Denton said, caught, thrown for a loss on the play by Horris Morris. The crowd roared from that name.

It rained so hard that game that I had to stop and wring my socks out before I could go in Gus's Deli after the game....the money I pulled out of my wallet to pay my tab was wringing wet.....but it was oh so worth it to watch us crush Eric Rhett play after play.
