On this subject I confess I am not a moderate. The man is appealing to, if not the worst in American society, close to it. He has tapped into an enormous sea of fear at change, at diversity, at loss of control.

What the hell do you think got BHO elected? Take you whiney ass somewhere else.
I understand that a lot of people are willing, and indeed want, to excuse away a lot of what he does simply as entertainment that antagonizes.
But I personally think he has gone well past that point. Now, there is no way that he can rise to power like Hitler did. The world is too savvy a place for that, now. But he can sure do some damage to race relations, religious tolerance, education reform, etc.
I think what the real threat is here is that he is making it okay again to hate. It is almost in vogue. For a long time this underbelly of our country had lost its way, it had become disorganized. It wasn't okay at parties to blame blacks or religions for our problems.
Beck is a rallying point for people who feel that way and he has allowed them to come back out of hiding.
Its not his fault, really. I mean, times are tough and everyone needs someone to blame. Having Obama as the foil to work against, the black president who can serve as the presentation piece to blame everything on lazy black people on welfare, may just work out for Beck and the GOP after all.
Like I said, Beck has made it okay to say that out loud again.

I doubt the rally would have even gotten a mention on here if you hadn't brought it up..... that Beck's rally this morning is not political? The headline speakers are he and Sarah Palin.
Beck has a lot of similarity to another charismatic speaker from the 1930s. Big rallies. Convinced people all their problems were caused by some other defined groups. Claimed to be channeling a greater power.
The man is dangerous.

No matter what you think of him you can't honestly believe he's more guilty of this than our leaders.

The fact that Obama became President categorically disproves this assertion. Even if you agree with him you cannot say A) he was qualified for the office or B) he was vetted by the MSM. Even the Clintons complained about it.But I personally think he has gone well past that point. Now, there is no way that he can rise to power like Hitler did. How so? By affirming on a consistent basis the Constitutional principles that people should be able to peacefully worship as they please, extend the same rights to all, demand the same responsiblity from all, and to REALLY reform education by putting it back in the hands of the people by stripping control from liberal elites? But he can sure do some damage to race relations, religious tolerance, education reform, etc.
yeah it was Beck followers who beat a black conservative in MO... um no, that was Obama's SEIU thugs. Maybe it was the KKK standing at a poling place with clubs shouting racist comments at black voters... ummm no. Maybe there has been a huge rise in white on black crime cutting into the 8000% greater likelihood of black on white crime?I think what the real threat is here is that he is making it okay again to hate. There is a nugget of truth here. The REAL Americans are finding their voices again and they're saying NO! to Progressives and statists... They're finally not wilting when false charges of racism and such are hurled at them. They aren't afraid of the left's lies any more.Beck is a rallying point for people who feel that way and he has allowed them to come back out of hiding.
LG at times I think you just stir the pot but if you believe what you posted then I really just don't know what to think

i still haven't seen a single statement from beck that even implies racism or breeding hatred. it's absurd. he is what he is. a drunk DJ who found jesus (one addiction for another) and realized he could make a lot more money being political than he could making fart jokes at 6am.
