Does anyone on here remember the 92 Cincy game?

Funniest thing from that season; Majors came back for the Bama game and the students were chanting "block that artery".

It was blazin' hot in the first half, then at halftime the black cloud came rollin' out of the northwest and it poured down rain. That stadium was ROCKIN'!
This is one of my first big games as a kid. Me and my dad got drenched. We rode home in our underwear with the heater cranking. I'll never forget that game. Yea Neyland was jacked even in a down pour.

It was my Junior year of high school. My folks and I road-tripped up from Florida and tailgated with family.

I collected and filled out my application for early admission the following Monday.

I remember them being built up with a good quarterback. It was the homecoming game and we tore them up pretty good. The score was 40-0. I was living in Hess Hall and remember watching Heath Shuler wear out LSU that year in the Kitchenette on the 5th floor. Anybody on here from that time. That was year we drilled the gators in the rainstorm.

Every Vol fan over 30 remembers 1992. Roller coaster year.

That was the game where Cincy maybe had one or two first downs, Vols up by five touchdowns... they finally complete a 20-yard or so pass to midfield - nice play - and the UC receiver gets up and does some crazy Hurricane style dance. The crowd was a loud mixture of horse laughs and boos.

I remember that we let an Arkansas player return a kick-off for a touchdown, late in the game. We lose the game and Neyland Stadium is dead quiet.

I remember '92 - Stayed at home and listened to this game on the radio back in Memphis at the time.

Tennessee was undefeated and ranked #4 in the polls at the time and on our way to a 6-0 record and a match-up of unbeatens one week later against Alabama.

Arkansas was 1-4 and had lost to The Citadel (I-AA), Alabama, Memphis and UGA. To that point in the season, their only win was against a 5-6 South Carolina team.

I don't think some really understand the friction among the staff/players after Majors came back. There was absolutely NO WAY Tennessee should have lost that game.

Cincinnati was mediocre at best. There was no build up to that game from my memory. We should have put 70 on them but called off the dogs after half time and ran the ball about 50 times.

Yes, there was a slight build up. Cincinnati had played Penn State close earlier in the season so the media was talking upset special.

I was at that game with my girlfriend. It rained. She got miserable. She made me miserable. To make a long story short . . . we got married.

I was at the game, I was about 15 then. The only build up I remember is Majors was coming back, I never heard much about anyone actually thinking Cincy would win.

I don't remember a lot about the game, other than I remember someone on UT's defense got flipped in the air when he went in to rush the QB and the running back stepped up and hit his legs. He landed on his back so he didn't get hurt but for a second it was a bit scary.

I remember the Fla game that year but not the Cincy. The ticket for the Fla game was a whopping $22.16, my how times have changed.

I was a Jr. at UT that year. I remember that season very well. IIRC, UT beat LSU 20-0 but Majors wasn't happy with Shuler and I think he pulled him in that game for a series or 2.

Yes, of course, but I had totally forgotten about living in Hess Hall... or blocked it out...

I don't remember which Smokey it was, but he was a puppy if I remember right. Anyway, he came out, ran through the T, then to the bench then back out on the field right as Cincinnati was coming out. They ran over him-literally. He rolled at the feet of a couple players then hopped back up on his feet and away he went. He was fine. WHASSUPSMOKEYBUDDY!!

I was there. Don't remember it being billed as a close game at all. We knew we were about to whip some bearcat going into the game.

I honestly don't know much about this Cincy team and why we are picked to lose at home. But I do know that Brian Kelly is no longer their coach so still not sure why we are underdogs.

I was living in North Carrick that year. The FL game was the best game of that year. I don't remember playing Cincy. The game against Bama that year was a classic as well, but unfortunately, we came up a little short with Shuler getting a concussion and throwing that last pick.

I was there with my Dad. I mostly remember Shawn Summers punt return for TD. Leaving the stadium I walked by coach Majors who was leaving the press box.

I was on the 6th floor that year.

It wasn't that Cincy game from '92 that received the pre-game hype. It was the Louisville game from '93 with Howard Schnellenberger (sp?) as their coach. UT kicked the crap out of them.

I was on the 3rd floor in North Carrick. That Bama game was a good one, Ronald Davis was wide open across the middle when Shuler over threw him.
