Has lost his kids?

Kids aren't responding/listening to Sal.

Kids have lost confidence in themselves

Front 7 and back for aren't matching up?

From the looks of it to me, he's NEVER had them from the get go. We haven't seen a lick of decent defense all season.

I wonder if Sal bought a house in Knoxville?

I bet he is living out of an apartment. At least, he is coaching that way.

Hyams on the radio this morning said that the D has turned him off. They are lost and cant understand a lick of that Pittsburgh twang.

seems likely that the defense is lost in his system. The secondary looks lost on every play. Even when they are right there with the WR, and all they have to do is turn around get their eyes on the ball, they still seem lost.

No sarcasm intended here - but where do we go from here for the last three games? How do you even practice after the worst defensive game ever played by UT? What do you tell the players? What do you try to fix? Seriously, what do you do to get the defense ready after that game Saturday?

I don't know that he ever had the DB's, but then again alot of times it seemed like Wilcox didn't either. In the 3 years of the Dooley era, ever unit has progressed. It hasn't always been linear but look at where all units were last year compared to this year. Only QB needs more consistent play but is overall better. DB's were and are atrocious. Having to compensate for the older guys brought in at the position when we needed warm bodies is to the point it's rediculous, they haven't improved and young guys haven't stepped up enough in practice or games yet.

Again this isn't a team thing or even a defensive unit thing. It's one concentrated group of players that are atrocious week in, week out and they killed us in spots last year, and it's happening again.

Everybody knows. There are sources everywhere man! Gruden is coming! Hart hired Sal, no Dooley did. Sources are everywhere!

I just want to know how we had 4 picks against NC state.. I think it was 4. I'm too lazy to look back. He's obviously not a terrible QB. Maybe the Randolph loss?

So if they have turned him off or tuned him off then why id CDD allowing him to continue. I'm not saying to fire him, just take his responsibility of calling plays away.

These kids never bought into that system. After Florida, I thought it was growing pains...now I realize it is what it is.....

The SEC is no place for a newly promoted position coach, it is a challenge for established and proven DCs' :twocents:

Its got to be coaching, or lack thereof...we usually have a bad 2ndary but NOTHING like this year! Its painful to watch. Thank goodness for the O!!

From the looks of him on the sidelines he needs to be on dancing with the stars. Just watching him makes me dizzy so I can understand why the players cannot understand the "play calling" if you want to call it that coming from Sal. Move him to position coach and let someone else call the plays. Wagner is not being used much this year and that is bad...He has been good in the past....interceptions, tackles etc to keep the other team from scoring....Hope he is living out of an apartment....It will be cheaper and he may need all his salary to support his family when he is gone.

Surely you guys understand football more than it being as simple as "changing the play calling".

Because Sal hadn't coached 'em up yet. They were still relying on instinct and what they knew from before in that game. The more they get coached up, the worse it gets.

I know football is a lot more than play calling on the sidelines, but with all the obvious dancing around it would confuse anyone. Maybe DD could get Vince to be his defensive advisor for the remainder of the season and help poor Sal get it together at least for three more games. I really want a bowl game this year....
