Does anyone else think Crompton will do ok this year?

I think with the fact that we don't have any other choice than for Crompton to succeed, we all have no choice, but to be optimistic. Those of us who aren't always nega-vols that is.

hahaha are you really serious? crompton will play no better this year than last. the only reason he has the starting spot is to leave room for recruiting. everyone blamed clawson for jc idiocracy, and everyone here hated him last year and totally back him this year. you guys are ridiculous:banghead2:

Incorrect...

Doing "ok" and doing better are two different things. I think he does better but he doesn't reach doing "ok".

I was "lucky" enough to attend the Orange and White game (live in TN and therefor all friends are TN fans) and it was pretty obvious that the playbook was pretty dumbed down, especially for the offense. Even so, Crompton didn't look that great and it was a less-pressure situation than any game will ever be. Everyone that I was with agreed that Coleman did better and would probably be the starter by the end of the season. So much for that.

There was a certain QB at Notre Dame with the initials BQ who had a horrible season and then shocked the nation a year later. So I guess it's possible that Crompton could at least be decent. I just like Stephens more for some season.

I hope Crompton can bounce back. If he doesn't do well this year. He is just plain horrible at football. There will be no more excuses if he does bad this year. It's do or die year.

My Question is does he have to be really good?My thought is if he can be smart an not turnover the football threw some short passes and then we get the running game working he will look good and we will win games. Remember defense is what wins game.Go Monte!

if defense wins games then we should have done much better than 5-7 last year

True! but the key is not to turn over the football. Just as defense wins games the offense can lose games!I'm just saying if he can play a smart game and just take what he can and don't try to win the game in one sling of th arm are defense can win us the game. Just be smart like they say help is on the way (Bryce Brown)

The way he looked against LSU? He was 11-24 with a third of his total passing yards coming on one play. Hardly the benchmark for success.

The only 180 I expect from him is to get the ball snapped in time and make clean handoffs.
Prezactly...I also remember that game. He is not our Savior, not even close.

I believe he will rebound and have a solid year, much like JP Wilson did for Bama last year. It is a shame he is a Sr and only has one year under Jim Chaney and co. I say 7 or 8 wins this year.

I'm going to stay positive about Crompton. After all, Ainge was worse in 2005 than Crompton was last year, and Ainge turned it around in '06 and had a very good season, 2900 yards 19 TD's and 9 INT's.
