I know that Butch wanted to keep the offense somewhat vanilla Saturday, but with all the sick talent we have at WR and QB how did we not any shots down the field? We should have a wide open passing attack with the guys we are blessed to have. These highly ranked receivers aren't going to want to come to Tennessee if all they do is block the whole game? Do you think well open it up and pass more from here on out? I can just see it now first drive against OU : first play run up the middle stuffed for 1 yard second down: screen for 1 yard. Third and long incomplete pass!!! am i right or do you think butch jones will prove me wrong and sling the ball around in the upcoming weeks?

When you rush for almost 400 yards the passing game is going to the back seat.

We did have shots down the field. There were a lot of drops. Butch didn't press the issue. Our WRs need to catch the damn balls thrown to them.

He literally said in the presser that Debo changed some of the pass plays to extra runs to rest the D.
Does that cover it?

My gosh we complain that Kiffin, Chaney and Bajakian dont run the ball enough and now we having a dominate run game finally (hopefully) we complain that we dont pass enough?
Sometimes I think we're the whiniest fanbase.

Dobbs was 15-22, 205 yds, 2 tds, no picks. Freaking 90 QBR....50 is average, 100 is perfect. Had completions of 45 yds to Von and 30 yds to Jauan on a day when the passing game was an afterthought due to the running game clicking and wanting to reveal as little as possible for OU to study.

So, am I concerned?? Absolutely not.

1) Why do you think that the number of passes we attempted while we were absolutely eating BGSU alive with the run game is at all indicative of how often we will pass in the remainder of the season? Especially since BG did not have a good enough defense to force us to keep them honest.

2) Why do you think that we will be unsuccessful against OK, even if you think that we will continue running?

3) Why do you think we will continue running AFTER being unsuccessful in the OK game? Butch and Co. might have fallen in love with a successful running game last weekend, but do you honestly think them too thick to adjust if it isn't working?

4) Your criticism is that we ran the ball all the time, and never took a shot downfield. So, why do you see this manifesting itself against OK in us throwing downfield as often as we run the ball (1 each, in your hypothetical drive), and only running 1/3 of the time?

5) Are you always this difficult to please? Remind me to never buy you a present.

We were moving the ball at will with a very vanilla running game, without having to show OU anything fancy. We got, what? 600 yards offense and controlled time of possession. Why on earth would you complain?

Getting systematically abused in the the secondary was disturbing, not our passing game.

We scored 59 points. We suck again.

Damn it man.....if we had throw from 600 yards someone would be *****ing that we have no run game.

We looked really good besides 3 balls to deiter, looked like we made adjustments and closed the door when we needed to, we will be just fine once we open everything up.

Butch may suggest that if the Vols are able to rush for 400+ yds/game, he not too concerned with more downfield passing, no?

They had more than 3 good plays to one guy.

What sick talent at WR are you speaking of? I have not seen these wide receivers that, I assume, are supposed to be playing for Tennessee.

Never knew putting up 59 points regardless of how it came was a bad thing..

And honestly, it could've , almost should've been 86 points....2 offensive tds called back, 2 relatively easy fgs missed and an awful call of "forward progress stopped" on the DKJr sack and UT recovered fumble in the end zone....that's 27 addl points.

:lolabove:Vanilla's too flavorful than what Butch showed Stoops last Saturday, OP. I suggest you go back to the drawing board...you and all your other whining cronies...and stick to crayons. We didn't need deep passes to beat BGSU, so the least as possible of that aspect was revealed. For all intentions from UT's coaching staff, this was pretty much a practice game. As you break out the crayons, paint the end zones checkered orange and white Saturday evening, and expect to see those sickly talented WRs running into them with the ball. A lot.

I think they open the playbook more as the season goes on. It's definitely a run first to set up the passing game offense, which is a good thing.
