Does a .500 winning percentage in NFL mean anything?

Presumably you can support this idea that Grudens isn't one of the best offensive coaches in the world?

Wonder where the perception came from?

Confused. Are you trying to ask if I think Gruden IS a brilliant offensive mind?? If so, the answer is a resounding NO.

I don't agree with your thesis here, but I am equally confused by the BPV post. Don't get trapped in the vortex.

Why is it confusing? I added an extra s to his name. I'm asking him to support his idea that Gruden isn't an offensive genius.

How did he leave a mess? This is almost the stupid argument about won with Dungy's team.

LOL, there's (by my count, I may have missed one) exactly 11 players that are still on the roster from Rah's 2009 team. One of those being Josh Freeman....whose backup was Byron Leftwich. That alone should tell you something.

That the ownership brought home a title and quit? Of that, there is no doubt.

There's a whole mess of stats a few pages back. But we aren't allowed to count anything he did in Oakland-just be prepared to read that part and try to process it.

WTF is that supposed to tell you? I'm confused.

Go look at any NFL roster in the salary cap era and I guarantee you'll see similar results over a 4 year period. I'm not asking you to think Gruden is Bill Walsh, but you're being irrational.

This is pretty common across the NFL.

The funny thing is if I told you the story of Tennessee football and then said "and then they hired Jon Gruden", the only explanation for that twist in the plot would be . . . Deus ex machina. :deepthoughts:

I think we can all agree Dooley is not the right fit for TN, but we'll have a junior and senior laden team next year, and to go through another defensive coordinator, for some players it will be their 3rd one in 3 years, and another offensive coordinator, with a senior QB and a senior offensive line. We can expect our offense to have problems with Gruden's complex offense

Dooley is a perfect fir for TN. He just can't coach a lick.

Hey, he actually looked up some facts. I am proud of him. The fact that he refers to him as Grubage is pretty telling on how he feels. I think I could make arguments without disparaging a person. I don't like some coaches, but you won't find me referring to them in that manner.

The argument that TB is still rebounding from Gruden is just stupid. It is a small market NFL team that has trouble paying alot of money to players. They finally drafted a decent QB and signed a decent WR. Long list of QB's in the past 15 years that were well below average.

These kind of arguments are senseless when dealing with someone with so much emotion about it. My time is better spent elsewhere.

So, my calling him Grubage is bad, but people calling our current head coach "Fooley" is okay??
