Dodd Says CDD On Hot Seat

how is dooley on the hot seat and muschamp is 'don't even think about it'? the only difference between the two is one season.

That is exactly the point - in the good part of the SEC you only get 1 bad season - after that you are on the hot seat

I am not saying it is right or that I agree that Dooley should be - it is just the way it is - if he has a 3-4 win season this year he will be fired

that being said - he wont - he will win 7-8 games and be fine but the colmnist that said he is one of the 3 on the hot seat I don't think was off base - he is not exactly a Saban with years of credentials to back up back to back losing seasons

LOL How ridiculous. The hot seat THIS year?? Not a chance. Next year? Possibly, if this year is 6-6 or worse. And I do not believe he has to win an SEC championship in the next 2 years to keep his job either. How long did it take Spurrier to have the Gamecocks in the title game?
And about recruiting......He signed a top 15 class this year and finished up a top 15 class last year. I'm not sure what some people expect? How much difference is there REALLY between the number 1 and number 15 classes. What have South Carolinas (you know, the team that won the east last year) recruiting classes ranked the last 5 years?

Some people need to take a deep breath.......

That doesn't matter. This is a powerhouse program of the SEC, we're used to going to/winning SEC titles. We need a coach that can get us back there and keep us up there.

That's different. South Carolina's program is trash.

I still have yet to buy that Dooley is the right man for the job at all, I still think we got who we could because UT's entire AD was toxic after Kiffin left and everybody knew it. IMO his fourth year will be the first where he truly gets a fair shake and we see what he's made of. I agree by then, if we're still an 8-ish win/season team, then we move on.
After thinking about it, this is my view as well. I really think we will know what we got in year 3 though.

dude, i don't know what gator people you know, but expectations are not high this season. most don't even believe florida will win the division.

heck, losing to tennessee is a realistic possibility this year. when was the last time florida fans thought that?

Probably some time during the 4th quarter in Knoxville in 2006.

CDD will be here at least 4 years and probably 5 unless he has a total meltdown.

Alot of injuries to several starters could also keep him here longer because no coach can do anything about injuries.

Being honest is to understand that there's NOT even 1 hot, proven football coach that would want to come to Tennessee because we ARE a toxic program for several reasons:

1...We don't even have a AD right now and we may not get a solid, proven AD that can be successful in all areas.
2...We STILL DO have a mostly empty roster or top recruits on all our programs especially the high profile programs.
3...We basically have 3 NEW coaches running our top 3 high profile programs and they will NOT get fired quickly no matter who our new AD may be because they WILL be given 4 years or longer to rebuild totally decimated programs.
4...We have a great fanbase but we fans ARE considered as toxic to any coaches careers because we ARE known to be far less than patient and we think we should win the SEC East every year and the SEC Championship at least every other year.
5...The SEC is the toughest and most daunting conference in the entire country AND at ALL the sports that get the most PR so many coaches will simply be scared to wreck their careers by coming to Tennessee.
6...We MUST be able to recruit top players at all sports AND to recruit from all around the country against ALL the top programs in the country because we're NOT Florida, Texas of California where the home state can build 95% of their rosters from.

The ONLY way we could lure in a top, proven coach would be to pull a Alabama and pay incredible $$$ and to triple our current coaching budget and that's simply NOT going to happen.

Remember, Nick saTan earns MORE $$$ himself alone than our ENTIRE football coaching staff COMBINED earns.

CDD won't be on a hot seat for at least 3 more years and there's some reality for everyone to mull over.

VFL...GO BIG ORANGE!!!

Actually (on point #2), we have some great young talent.

On point #4, I think this is a little ego-centric. I consider Tennessee fans some of the most loyal in the conference: enough to stick with a coach that had a great run but saw a steady decline and probably got 2-3 years more than he deserved (and even then created a divided fanbase), and enough to stand by a proven cheater and liar for a basketball coach.

Truth be told: the pickings are ripe. If Dooley can bring in recruits and right the ship, he could quickly become a hero to the Vol-faithful. We are ready for a solid, driven coach to lead us back to the top.

Who is dodd???

This is the most boring time of the year for college football writers!!!(if thats what he is supposed to be)!!!

Who cares what mmmm whats his name again....OH dodd yeah Who cares what dodd thinks???????

Lets be slow to react if we have a less than outstanding season!!!

Now breath in slowly................
Now breath out slowly..............

Dont you feel better???

OH YEAH,WHO THE HELL IS DODD????????

Ridiculous, even for Dodd. Dooley has huge amounts of grace right now. He's righting the ship, and everyone but a few ne'er-do-wells knows it.
