Dobbs sign at Gameday - funny or mean?

To be honest we could make signs of how dumb their qb is. Trevor Knight never called Katy Perry when she made the request. That's stupid.

I don't see how anyone can be offended by this. It's just a game sign and a joke.

I can tell a lot of people haven't had someone with a real disability in their lives because people with them make fun of themselves all the time, as humor been proven to be one of the best coping mechanisms time and time again. When my father was diagnosed terminal with his cancer he made more death and dark jokes than all of the people against Black Lives Matter.

We live in an age where people get offended far too easily (and it's really not the under 30 age group,) and I can all but guarantee Dobbs isn't offended by this. Don't be offended for him, as if it truly bothers you just come up with something funnier and move on. Because *****ing and complaining (especially on a message board) does absolutely nothing to further the conversation or make anything better.
I am highly offended. I am all for trash talk but personal attacks about your looks and medical condition. Off limits

It's funny, of course. No reason to expect everyone to do clinical research before cracking a joke.

I think they are tattoo's. Permanat make-up if you will. Good for him if it makes him feel good

Exactly. That's my point. For someone to say he probably doesn't care or doesn't bother him. For him to go through that proves it does bother him.

Watching ESPN Sportscenter just now.
They had a live shot from College station where the Aggie fans have a whole lot of signs.

One said: Eyebrow recovery fund.

Thank goodness Joshua is above the VICTIM MENTALITY.

Mean and not even funny. Don't worry, the A&M football team will collapse just like that bonfire...

Sorry, can't find anything about the game at hand with your post. It is spot on as it relates to society. Think post is on wrong site, doesn't seem to have much direct sports connection to me. Maybe a political or social site. But Bible and gun references, for me, at the end of your post are a letdown.

I'll politely disagree. The OP's thread title asks a logical, non-sports related question: "--funny or mean?"

Answer: Depends on the basis of your ethics. Almost every responding post here could be presented in a philosophy class as an example. The only sports connection from the get-go was that the sign was shown as part of ESPNs gameday coverage.

I knew my post wasn't for most people's enjoyment, but that's one of the great things about a forum with broad participation like ours: true diversity, something for (and from) everyone. Vol Nation includes the full spectrum of Americana. So why not an occasional something for us over-edumacated VFLs?

BTW: the Bibles and guns reference from the President's infamous "bitter clingers" speech was tossed in as a philosophical--but on topic--aside, recalling both Mao's "political power grows from the barrel of a gun" and Ayn Rand's "morality ends where a gun begins."

PS: Glad you're in Savannah, TN and not Savannah, GA this morning.

What a few of our idiot fans did this morning regarding Dobbs was classless and not funny. Making fun/light of a tragedy that cost 12 families their children is equally classless.

The Tennessee fans (on message boards and in person) have been some of the warmest and most gracious we've had the pleasure of interacting with. Let's try not stoop to this level on either side.
