TOO many other QBs out there with less experience (even TRUE/RS Freshman) playing MUCH better. So...he is performing barely average, IMHO...therefore my C-...

I'll give him the B+ taking everything into consideration and a huge assumption on my part that he was told to hold back in the Appy game.

We'll agree to disagree.

This is kind of like the complaints about playcalling. I think it's completely misplaced. The o-line is making a lot of people look bad right now.
That's true. But playing calling for the most part has been far from a strength. And that didn't start this year.

D4H does have a point. In this offense, with this OL and scheme, we may never get to see what Dobbs can really accomplish as a passer. I feel the same way about most of our guys on offense.

What would Hurd or Kamara be like with an OL that actually blows open hole consistently like UGA and Alabama does? What would guys like Williams and Malone be like if the OL gave the QB time to make throws or if the offensive scheme was competent? It is what it is.

Did you see UGA's OL Saturday? They were pitiful and Chubb was only able to pick up 80 yards on 20 carries. Against Nicholls St!

Dobbs will be fine... pretty sure the experiment by Debord has run its course. No more pocket passing, will see more roll out, run/pass option. That is what makes Dobbs effective... 99% of the VN posters can see this, but coaches sometimes cannot.

Josh Dobbs career completion percentage up to this point is better than Worley, Bray, Simms, and Crompton.

He sits at 60.1, Erik Ainge finished at 60.5.

27 completions is only relevant to attempts made. Which I think is about 48 this season.
Percentage should be pretty good, only average 5 yards a pass.

Just run Dobbs and he's so much more effective. But I will give him credit. He threw two beautiful passes against VT when he had time to do so.

C- so far

If you're giving Dobbs a C-, what are you giving the OLine? Everyone wants to pile onto Dobbs for his lack of passing yds. Do you know the reason why he HAS to throw to the flats? Why most passes are 5-10 yds down field? I guess you've never thought about the lack of time that he's been given. These two games, he's had about 2-3 secs to get the ball out. That's not enough time to make reads down field. Thus the reason for the quick and short throws. When given a few seconds to throw, the 2 passes to Malone, the beautiful pass to Jennings for the 1st score was beautiful. It's hard for any QB and WR to connect when the routes are TIMING routes. It's sad when he still doesn't get time when the defense drops 8 and rushes 3. That was the case Saturday night; numerous times. His bad decisions have been because he was under duress. It's not that the sraff doesn't trust Dobbs (he's hit a few deep balls already), they don't trust the OLINE.

He's looked good throwing the deep ball this year after yall said he couldn't last year.

That first touchdown pass to Malone against VT was a little behind him. Maybe its a timing issue, but Dobbs still isn't leading his receivers or hitting them in stride very well. His passing is very similar to Tim Tebow's.

Since you asked...The Tennessee O-Line gets an F! And I'd kick Coleman Thomas out of school for a "Suspension" to teach him a lesson. Also, I'd either find some passion & toughness in the others...or quickly develop younger players WITH instilling passion and toughness in them and a desire to be on the field. I wouldn't have to rely on a 4th string QB to instill a fire in the O-Line. ( and the rest of the Team, for that matter). *thanks to S. Jones for SHOWING some passion, AND CREATING ACCOUNTABILITY! BTW

You HAVE to see that Dobbs has made several Freshman decisions in his first 2 games with both throws and hand-off/pulls from DE mis-reads. He has JUST NOT PROGRESSED in his ability to throw the ball, whether he has time, or not. Which makes him NOT be a TRUE "Duel-Threat QB". As well, a C- is just below average...and if you look at his personal stats...and the stats of the Tennessee offense...you will see that it is Below Average in the SEC, let alone the FBS.
