Dobbs regression, like Worley's, is due to our OL...

Dobbs 'regression' is due to delusion and hype among the fanbase . Despite two games where Dobbs played well, Butch tried to keep the fan expectations real. He knew the fanbase was experiencing Dobbsgasms and self-delusion when Dobbs hit a hot streak. The fans won't acknowledge the real throwing difficulties that have plagued Dobbs since last season. They either shoot the messenger for telling them the truth, or make up excuses about Dobbs 'being a gamer' to explain away the dramatic difference between the historical Dobbs and the Dobbs that played two good games.

Heck, I got mocked and ridiculed for consistently telling the truth of why Dobbs was #3 after the preseason camp. He has longstanding accuracy problems that have defied remedial training and experience. He is very erratic and often wildly inaccurate.

It's also certainly true that this offensive line is a huge problem. Dobbs shined for a while because he could elude pressure and run. Now, defenses have figured out we are basically running a wildcat with two running backs (Dobbs and Hurd) on the vast majority of plays. They are shutting us down.

I was at the game, and from my perspective I saw a lack of game reps between dobbs and the 2's and 3's in the receiving corps. It's tough to throw to a guy when you don't know what he can do in a game. Plus, perimeter blocking was pretty poor. That really hamstrings an offense that relies heavily on catch-and-run play.

If you follow the trend Dobbs regression started right after our center went down for the season. Our o-line has no depth and needs lots of work. They are to young and inexperience for the SEC. Time will change this. I do see Dobbs over think things and trying to force the ball. IF he had more time this would be less of an issue.

BINGO. /thread

Totally agree.

You deserved every bit of the ridicule you got... and disappeared and waited... and hoped that Dobbs would stumble so you could come in and make another self-deluded claim of victory. You did note that in spite of a tough outing there was never a thought of pulling Dobbs, right? Peterman had a rough two series and was so solid according to you in that #2 spot that he got pulled.

... extreme suckage quotient. 42 sacks for 2014. Worley played like one of the SEC's best earlier in the season, then the OL suckage took it's toll. Same thing happened with Dobbs. It's the same thing that happens with rookie QB's going to bad teams in the NFL.

They have to run for their life and the constant pressure gets into their heads. So, for those of you reverting back to your criticism of Dobbs....step off his jimmies, Jimmy. He made some mistakes of his own, but again, much of it comes from him being unsettled with the barrage of missed assignments by the OL.

If he's given time, he'll return to form, but stats don't lie. 42 sacks allowed this season. For a little perspective, in 2011, with an immobile QB like Bray and Matt Simms, we only gave up 15 sacks. Only 18 in 2012. We are close to the bottom of the barrel in all of FBS schools.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying but Worley caused quite a few sacks as well. He held onto the ball for a really long time and that combined with the young o line was deadly. Dobbs has a bad habit of reverting back to old habits after a mistake and that's expected with a young QB. Hopefully he progresses over the summer and I think be will. He has the physical tools and we all know he is smart, he just has to experience things and get his reps in.

STJ18, I ripped your butt apart on every argument - and we both know it. You offered an endless load of verbal diarrhea dishonestly redefining my arguments to things I never argued, hoping to distract from the argument in contention. You couldn't defend your position - or defeat mine. You still can't.

You were completely unable to defend your superficial and harsh condemnation of Peterman in your original posts.

You were proven wrong about the fact Peterman won the #2 position following summer competition. That's how Dobbs became expendable and a candidate for RS.

You were proven wrong to deny Peterman played Florida with a broken hand.

You were exposed for your unwarranted harsh condemnation of Peterman's performance playing with a broken hand.

You and your ilk were exposed for condemning Peterman for superficial reasons based on minuscule playing time.

You were exposed as chronically dishonest for serial misrepresentation of my arguments. You dishonestly claimed I argued coaches had no intent to RS Dobbs. Even after repeated correction, you never came clean.

You still can't offer a single defeator to anything I argued. Instead, you will spin, manipulate and lie your butt off knowing nobody will check the record.

BTW, Ridicule doesn't faze me - and hasn't since about high school. I'm impressed by arguments. You have no arguments - just empty mockery and ridicule.

Also, you were proven wrong about Peterman being 'pulled' after two series. It was in FACT scripted. It was announced to the national audience BEFORE the game that Peterman would start and Dobbs would play the balance. At some point, you need to get honest. Until then, I will keep telling the truth about your dishonesty.

After 2 games, people was throwing his name around for the Heisman in 15, might have read his own newspaper clippings, then ran into real D last week against MIZZ, and then this week had a subpar game this week, might just show him he has got a lot of work to do in the of season, might be the best thing to happen to him and our team going into 15.

I was all-Vols while you swam in your daddy's balls.

I'm just saying I've never seen a positive post from you regarding Tennessee. Its either negative, or tooting your on horn about Peterman. You like to argue facts, well them there are facts!

If you look at the games he succeeded in dobbs is rolling out of pocket reading 1/2 the field and has the option to keep it. In Missouri game he was being tested by a D-line that was constantly stunting with twists. In the 2nd half of vandy game a linebacker spied him. The last 2 games have felt like the same playcalling as the Florida game. Right now our offensive coordinator's philosophy is unclear. It could be due to lack of playmakers recently but I don't know. Right now we are 1 dimensional and our OC needs to find ways to get dobbs out of an insecure pocket or allow for quick 1 step 3-step drops... Passing game needs to improve to feel any better going forward
