I actually agree with you. Dobbs is very intelligent and such a good runner that it somewhat compensates for his difficulties with throwing accuracy. But there is no sugar coating of those either - he is inconsistent and inaccurate in passing game. If the Vols don't end up having the success we all are hoping for (expecting) next year it will very possibly be becasue of those shortcomings in his game. Because we know that UF, Bama, etc will stack the line and force Dobbs to beat them throwing - and he has so far not been able to win that way vs quality defenses.

Here's the way I see it. Dobbs will never have a consistently accurate 40 yd deep ball to the corner of the end zone. Manning was never able to consistently juke a blitzing safety then out run the DE while tightroping the sideline for 15 yards to the end zone. Both plays result in 6 points, just different ways to get there.

Do you think Dobbs is more likely to reach the endzone as many times running and get those 6 points as Peyton did passing? Come on - let's get real. :crazy:
Peyton is the greatest QB to ever play the game of football so to somehow imply that his shortcoming of not being mobile is in any way comparable to a running QB like Dobbs struggling with passing issues is crazy.

Football players get their 5th year paid for regardless if their eligibility is over if they haven't graduated

In our run first read option offense, I think Dobbs skill set fits better than Peyton's would. I mean if we're comparing stats during his junior year Peyton threw and ran for 23 TDs. Compare that to Dobbs who threw, ran, and caught 27 TDs his junior year. Peyton is mostly remembered for his amazing senior year, how bout we let Dobbs have his senior year before we bury him and his skill set

I remember when this first came out and so many people were whining about how dare Dobbs play baseball and some knowledgeable posters stated he was only participating in work outs but they were mostly ignored. Seems to me this just proves they were right all along.

No problem with that at all and I will be pulling as hard for him as anyone both for the Vols sake and because I think he is a really nice young man. However, I may still make a joke or two about his passing along the way until he starts proving me wrong. :dunno:
