Dobbs needs to be able to throw the deep ball like

The Texas QB. Both times, in the 2nd and 3rd quarter he threw the ball up and let his receiver make the play by running past the DB. We NEVER throw passes to a receiver in a straight fly pattern and have it hit in stride.

I agree, Dobbs should do more of the things good quarterbacks do and less of the things bad quarterbacks do.

Texas playing well tonight. Media has voted them favorite for most improved. If this QB is for real they have potential for big year. I would give anything to see my Vols hook up on the deep ball like they are doing.

Dobbs wouldn't even see the receiver. For being so smart, he's bad at reading defenses.

It's a good thing he didn't come to TN bc according to Butch young players aren't capable of learning his complex offensive system and therefore should sit. Evidently we r the only school in nation that feels that way. Btw the center is a freshman also.

For the love of god it's not dobbs!!! He doesn't call the plays. We had one legitimate long pass called Thursday and we hit it for a long td. Its butchs conservative nature. That's it. If we just throw it down the field 6-8 times a game a bunch of good things could happen. First of all...we might actually hit a few of them (seeing as we were 1 for 1 it's very plausible). Secondly, it'll keep the defense honest which will help our run game. And thirdly, it'll make dobbs and the receivers better. Fourthly, it's good for wr recruiting. Butchs unwillingness to throw the ball down the field likely played a roll in tee Higgins choosing to play elsewhere. I wouldn't come here if I was him
I've said it a bunch and people cal me a negavol but...Butch being a coward will almost certainly end up costing him his job and his legacy. You just can't win at anything in life if you're too afraid to ever take a chance.

The TX freshman QB is throwing the ball once he sees separation occurring. It is hard mentally and dangerous (int) to throw a deep ball without seeing any separation. It's easy when you see your receiver already has two steps on the defender. We need that kind of separation. Our deep game would be so much better with it.

You just called the coach a coward. What else would you expect to be called? Nincompoop? Yes he has a conservative nature, to call him a coward is out of line.
So yes I disagree with that.

He kicked a freaking fg from the 6 inch line at home last year. How on earth is it out of line to call him a coward?

On the second one he threw the ball while the reliever was lock step with the DB. He DID NOT wait for him to be beaten.

Given our passing game was one of our concerns going into this season, I fully expected a deep ball on our opening drive...if nothing else to show APP St they are going to have to defend it. The fumble may have changed that strategy, but I still fully expected to see one before the fourth quarter.

I think Dobbs is what he is. He's not perfect but I think he has the capability to be a winner. He needs to make better choices with the football. As far as developing a big arm? That ain't going to happen.
