Dobbs named SEC player of the week

Pretty sure Dobbs is only the 2nd player in SEC history to have 2 games with at least 300 passing and 100 rushing. Manziel had 3 games with those stats, Tebow had 1. Dobbs isn't about to leave either so there is a chance he can tie Manziel against SCAR

Also from the article:

His 430 total yards was the fifth-best total yards mark in Tennessee history. Dobbs now holds the fourth and fifth-best performances in program history. Tyler Bray holds the school record with 530 total yards against Troy in 2012. Peyton Manning has a hold on second and third spots on the list with 508 against Kentucky in 1997 and 475 against Florida in 1996. Dobbs' performances are the only ones to include positive rushing yards, as Manning was in the negative in both games and Bray had no rushes and no sacks in his record day.

Would he have been pulled if the 4th down TD pass to Smith went incomplete?

So many fans hate him, but damn Bray had the talent to be one of the GOATs, not just at UT but college ball in general considering the Manning records he broke or came close to, had he just had a coach or a defense. And if he had both it'd be down right terrifying.

Damn Dooley and Sunseri.

He was a great college player but if he was really as great as you say, he would be doing something in the NFL right now. I'm not a fan of Dooley or Sunseri, but Bray didn't have the whole package or he would be playing in KC right now, not riding the pine for the Chiefs.

He's been injured the whole time, and is injured right now. They resigned him even knowing he wouldn't play this year.

A shame the Dobbs story has been swallowed up by all the hoopla about Sarc, Grier, and the Ol Ball Sack retiring!

Yeah, an undrafted FA having one of the most respected NFL head coaches in many years sign him and keep him over two drafted QBs despite being injured more than he's been healthy certainly says he's no good. Especially since he's a terrifyingly old 23 years at a position where the average age of a starter is 28.

Aaron Rodgers sat for 4 years behind Favre, Kaepernick wasn't good enough to start, Kurt Warner wasn't good enough to beat Trent Green.

I'm in no way saying Bray will be as good as any of those guys were or have been, but he's certainly got enough people who think he can be a starter some day or he wouldn't still be with the Chiefs on the non injured list. And most who know football will certainly agree his ceiling is higher than the current starter in Kansas City. Whether it happens or not is up to his coaches and his health.

Never been a problem with his throwing...mega talent there. Jeff George arm...unfortunately same head too.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Dobbs Named SEC Offensive Player of Week - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

I think he well deserved it this week. He's a monster on the run and is a real threat against anyone we play, running wise. I just hope his passing game continues to improve. But at the same time us catching the ball would be nice too. So many passes have been dropped these last couple of games. But hey, our motto ain't "brick by brick" for nothing. We'll keep it going.

The raw talent was never missing for Bray. He can make all the throws and has a cannon for an arm. The intangibles were what was missing during his time here. He tended to fold under pressure and didn't have a good work ethic. His biggest problem was his attitude. A lot of Kiffin recruits had that problem (reflection of the coach maybe?). Add to that the piss poor job Dooley did of coaching/motivating him and you get what we got. I think he can be an NFL starter if he can just get his head right.

That was definitely a huge turning point in the game. It was a terrible pass but Smith made a great play on it and changed the whole game. If we don't score on that play we never kick off and the fumble never happens. Definitely the play of the game to me. No chance we come back if we go into halftime down 24-3 and zero momentum going into our bye week.

Kiffin never got the chance to even Coach Bray so that attitude was a reflexion of Dooley. I personally would have loved to see what Kiffin could have done with Bray. My guess is he would have turned him into a really good college QB. Just look what he did with Crompton and then Sims last year and Bray had more talent as far as a pure passer than either of them.

We have had quite a few dropped passes but also quite a few terrible passes to wide open receivers. I think our receivers played their best game of the year last week. The receivers and TE's bailed Dobb's out quite a few times last week. Even the pass Preston dropped he was falling and reaching back to try and catch it. It was catchable and an SEC caliber receiver needs to catch it. And prior to the GA game our receivers dropped several passes every game but also Dobb's missed his share of open guys as well. For some reason the QB and receivers haven't fully clicked to the potential they should. Still too many bad passes and too many drops to fully capitalize on the talent we have.I think Preston gets better every week but he still has a ways to go but I believe he will be a SEC all american by his Jr year at the latest. We have North,Williams,Malone and Pearson who were 5* receivers in atleast one of the recruiting services. With their size, outside of Pearson they should be owning much smaller CB's. Starting to have doubt's in Azzani's ability as a WR Coach. Right now Josh Smith is our best and most reliable WR and should be getting more touch's,IMO.
