43. Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee: Dobbs exemplifies "class act." Not only does he illustrate what it means to be a leader on the field, it's who he is off the field that makes him so special. The dual-threat signal caller had 11 rushing touchdowns to go along with his 15 scores through the air last season. The Volunteers will go as far as Dobbs leads them. Head coach Butch Jones has his best team to date in Knoxville, one packed with talent all over the field due to 18 returning starters, including Dobbs and two solid running backs. That trio is back again this season, which should scare almost every defensive coordinator on the schedule.

38. Jalen Hurd, RB, Tennessee: Hurd doesn't have to be the best in the country; he just has to be better. Going into his third season, the junior needs only 891 yards to become Tennessee's all-time leading rusher. Considering he's never rushed for fewer than 899 yards in a season (1,288 in 2015), that's a fairly safe bet. Look for offensive coordinator Mike Debord to feature him in Tennessee's run heavy offense. Quarterback Josh Dobbs is a dual talent threat, but Hurd can break your ankles at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds. He was one of only 19 backs to average at least 20 carries last season.

15. Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee: As a sophomore, Barnett emerged as one of the nation's premier pass rushers, leading Tennessee with 10 sacks -- 19th most in the nation -- plus 69 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and one forced fumble. Barnett is solidly built at 6-foot-3, 257 pounds and has some strength, but he's at his best working as a speed rusher. He's got a terrific first step and bends very well turning the corner to get leverage while getting to the quarterback around the outside of the tackle. Unlike some speed rushers, Barnett is very solid against the run and a true three-down player at defensive end. He's strong enough at the point of attack to set the edge when on the play side and his speed allows him to crash down the line to cut off cutback lanes and get tackles in pursuit when on the weak side.

I think they should have been 1,2,3 on the CBS ranking to top 50 players but I'm a little jaded.

Barnett sucks. Garret is much better. Dobbs is the only one that matters. Got it.

Never said that. I have compared Barnett to former Georgia DE and current Carolina Panther Charles Johnson. Who has had a really good NFL career.

They have similar height, weight, and athleticism. Johnson was able to craft a pretty good career. He's gotten 10+ sacks for multiple seasons and been a near pro bowl level player. That is who Derek Barnett is. A really good but not all-time great player.

Myles Garrett on the other hand is a generational talent. I compare him to DeMarcus Ware of the Cowboys. He's a guy who will lead the NFL in sacks for many seasons and be a perenial all-pro.

Hurd really needs to turn it up this season, sure he's sharing carries with Kamara but if you're not a 1200+ yrd rusher, it's gonna be hard getting a 1st-2nd round draft pick

No Sutton or Berry? The best return duo in the country is pretty damn impactful if you ask me.

???

He ran for nearly 1300 yards last year.

What're you talking about?

Many people....people a lot smarter and more informed than you....also considered Jadaveon Clowney a "generational talent". How's that working out?

Also, how many "generational talent" type players you got? Perhaps you don't understand what "generational talent" means......those type of players don't grow on trees like you seem to think they do.

I never did. I thought he was overrated. He lacked a great motor. Something we don't need to worry about when it comes to Myles.

Myles Garrett is the far better pro prospect.

Doesn't Barnett have twice as many sacks vs SEC competition as Garrett?

There someone goes with stats again. Real experts watch and grade game reruns, uh, I mean film. Luckily for us, D4H's mother springs for unlimited WiFi access so he can watch every game seven times and deliver insightful and expert analysis. Try to catch up.

Hard to judge a guy just on his measurables. Myles is def a beast and one of the top edge rushers in the nation but Barnett has a better motor, better vs the run game and forcing runners inside. Both are pretty even getting the QB on the ground. Put an elite offense across from em and Myles shows up while Barnett shows off. Having either play for your team makes u a lucky fan tho.

Myles Garrett is the far better pro prospect.

Given that Garrett pretty much only plays well vs non- SEC teams, perhaps he too lacks a great motor as well.

Consider.....

Garrett has 22.5 career sacks, but only 9 of them, 40%, has come vs SEC teams

For Barnett, it's 16 of his 19 career sacks, 84%, have come vs SEC teams.

How about TFLs?

Garrett - 12.5 of his 32 career TFLs, 39%, have come vs SEC teams

Barnett- 27 of 33, 82%, have come vs SEC teams

Just for good measure, to further separate the two and illustrate how much better a collegiate DE Barnett is, here are their tackle stats....

Garrett- 63 solos, 45 assists, 108 total

Barnett- 91 solos, 51 assists, 142 total

Btw, Garrett has done a lot of damage vs OOC teams like Ariz State and Nevada.......otoh, Barnett had one of his best games vs Final 4 Playoff team Oklahoma- 15 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack. When's the last time you saw a defensive end have 15 tackles in one game?

I know you're fixated on "how guys look" to you and yes, Garrett is a more imposing figure, he looks better than Barnett in his uniform. But there's no doubt who the better player has been thus far in their careers.....it's Derek.

Looks very good to me.

Just imagine how D4H will defend Garrett's motor after facing Dobbs on Oct 8. Oh my -- that's going to be fun reading (I can hear it now: "well, DeBord called too many 1st down passes, and Garrett just never had time or opp to get into his game).

Speaking of which, A&M has a fairly stout schedule before facing us, so that's a pretty good thing.

Didn't you guarantee we'd have someone drafted no later than the third round last year? Uhm...yeah, you haven't been accurate since you pissed in your diaper....which may have been last week. So please, lay off the insane statements, because your opinion has been WAY wrong more often than right.
