Dobbs hand clap

How do linemen and receivers, in a noisy stadium, hear a hand clap or a leg slap? And how exactly is either one of those better than just using your voice? Or is he using his voice and a hand clap?

They don't hear anything. The center gets the snap signal from either the QB or the guard, bobs his head, and snaps it. Everybody else is Looking at the ball and anticipating based on the head bob of the center.

Its amazing that according to some on here Dobbs was a dark horse for the Heisman and now after one half of a football game where the offense stalled, some think its time to pull him and say "next man up".

He's not the passer the Worley was. And Worley wasn't great. If he's now not going to run you have to wonder why he's back there.

It's all about the head bob

I noticed our entire offense was lining up in the direction we intended to move the football all game. Why didn't they at least line up once facing the opposite direction? Come on!

Well I don't know lets see.... He outscored Alabama when he was put in the game last year. He also beat South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and beat Iowa in a bowl game last year. He has also beat a good Bowling green team and had the Vols up 17-0 at one point against a ranked Oklahoma team....but besides that, nothing comes to mind. :dunno:

Then in the 2nd half he got scared and stopped keeping the ball. Hand off and watch.
I'm ok with a running QB who is sub par at throwing if he moves the ball. Everyone is bagging on CBJ for playing scared. I'm just putting Dobbs in that group.

And by the way..... I've been hopeful but unimpressed by Dobbs threw most of what you cited.

He has moments of greatness sounded by WTF?!?!

Slice telling the truth. And for the record guys. IT'S OK TO CRITICIZE THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR PLAYERS WITHOUT TAKING PERSONAL SHOTS AT THEM. regardless of who they are...and our QBS should receive more scrutiny than anyone else. They got all the glory when things go well.

To call for Dobbs to be benched would be crazy. To not see that the kid can't throw the deep ball and that he played scared in the 2nd half Saturday is also crazy. But by all means...proceed to rabidly defend a player that is not even bwing attacked. It's the emotional VN way.

Hand clap is more effective. You can fake the clap. Also the clap isn't whe. The ball is snapped. All it means is the QB is ready. Most centers delay 2-3 seconds after the snap to snap it to the QB. Not as bad as you make it out to be.

is telling opposing defenses when the ball is going to be snapped.
An oral snap count would be much better.
Why are the coaches allowing this?.
This is making it hard on our offense.

You are right op. Oral is always better.

Please stop. They used it numerous times the game before to draw BGSU offsides. If our fans would shut the hell up on offense, they could have probably done it against OU too.

UT isn't the only school that does the clap, either.

This. Love our fans when the defense is out...truly 12th man stuff. But when our offense is out, I expect it to be a cemetary until the snap....can we "look at the film" on this as a fanbase? lmao.

Don't get me wrong Max, I think Dobbs needs to improve his passing game A LOT. However, its hard to pass when your o-line only gives you 1 second before someone is in your face with pressure. I think play calling by the coaches along with Dobbs' reads is what lead up to that monumental collapse by our offense.

He's supposed to be an athlete. That's what is supposed to balance out the poor passing skill. In other games he's improvised, rolled out and bought time. In this game he regressed. He was an easy sack and threw the ball in the dirt at the first sign of trouble. It was so bad that Red asked "do you think he's got something wrong we don't know about ".

Dobbs is never going to be a great passer. Heck he's never going to be a good passer. Good news.....he doesn't have to be. If he plays with heart we will be fine. We can win with Dobbs as a beast. And even win championships. If he doesn't shake off that scared little boy ( or injury) we saw against OU then we are in deep poop.

That's all I'm saying
