is telling opposing defenses when the ball is going to be snapped.
A verbal snap count would be much better.
Why are the coaches allowing this?.
This is making it hard on our offense.

Correction: verbal not oral.
Still think our snap count is easy to read.

What? He doesn't just slap his hand once. He informs the team at what hand slap the ball is being snapped.

Please stop. They used it numerous times the game before to draw BGSU offsides. If our fans would shut the hell up on offense, they could have probably done it against OU too.

UT isn't the only school that does the clap, either.

Uummmm
The clap says he's ready.
The center decides when to snap it.
It's silent and the amount of time between clap and snap changes.

The hand clap is just another form of an oral snap count. The ball can be snapped on the first clap, third clap, the second clap after a hand signal and so on. It would be a mistake for the defense to rely on a hand clap to determine when the ball will be snapped.

I actually think its a great new addition.

Btw Urban Meyer has been having his QB's do it for years at Ohio State.

/thread.

You realize the snap isn't designed to happen right when he claps, right? It's telling the center you're ready and then the center can snap it sometime after he looks up. It's not designed to be perfectly on the clap.

Kind of like Oklahomas qb slapped his leg when he wanted the ball hiked. Each team has it's own signal

A lot of teams are using it this year. I saw it in multiple games flipping through channels last Saturday.

In some offenses the center handles the snap cadence when given the signal or clap from the QB the center doing it is effective being closer to other lineman and them being able to hear better and limit false starts. The clap is basically just saying everybody is set up and ready

Hang in there folks... Debord is bringing the Chicken Dance along one game at a time. Dobbs is adjusting much slower than expected... It's a rhythm thing.

I just got through watching this two times.
It sure looks to me that Dobbs is giving the snap away.

Watch it for yourself.

Slap, snap. Slap, snap. No timing delays.
Over and over again.

IMHO, this hand clapping is bad. I wish the coaches would put a stop to it.

We are having enough trouble without giving away our snap count.

Idk, maybe because they are the ones who implemented it.

I really did believe the op's first post left out the blue font on accident.

But gotta admit this thread shows how edgy volnation is right now. Just give us a reason.
