I know this and yet still I think Dobbs is the more underappreciated of the 2. Agenda? To bring facts? Ok man think whatever you want. I like Clausen and Dobbs. Both are underappreciated.

Also, stop trying to make it sound like Clausen won those games by himself. He didn't.

And Dobbs didn't win games by himself, Peyton didnt either. But pretending Clausen made himself just from those two Florida games is ludicrous.

I think Dobbs is much more under appreciated. With the horrid OL play we have had the last three years, Dobbs has literally won games for us on his own athletic ability. Casey is a much better pure passer, but then again he benefitted from a better OL, WR corp and coaching. Its going to be quite some time before we truly can appreciate what Dobbs meant to this team.

1. I wouldn't exactly discount those two road wins vs Florida, they were huge and important enough to separate Casey from some other qbs because he qb'd his teams to do something that no other UT Qbs have done.

2. Clausen's full body of work at Tennessee was exceeded only by Manning's in terms of passes completed, TD passes and total yards thrown for.

3. 34-10 as a starter at UT. Only Peyton's 39-6 is better.

He thew an interception on the last drive inside the 20 to close out that game. .:hmm: But, yes, he had a great second half to lead an almost comeback.

Clausen was a good one but I'd take Condredge, Bobby Scott, Tee Martin, Heath Shuler, and Andy Kelly over him.

Casey Clausen is by far the most underappreciated Vol QB of all time. He was a 4 year fixture that knew how to win big road games. He beat FL 3 times, unlike our renowned hero Peyton Manning. I'm sorry, I may get bashed for this, but I truly have always thought he was a better college QB than Manning. Yes, we all love him and he is the greatest in terms of yards, TD's, wins, etc. Clausen was one win away from playing Miami for the NC, but Stallworths fumble ended that dream. Clausen brought a Cali swagger and arrogance that we had never seen. He was and still is the man.

I've always thought that Erik Ainge was underappreciated. He beat Georgia twice on the road, lead UT to a last second victory over Florida as a freshman, has career stats very comparable to Casey Clausen, and had MUCH worse defenses than Clausen did. The defenses in 2004 and 2006 were not that good. The defense in 2007 was the worst in UT history (until 2012, that is).

To be fair, the dude pooped his pants at home a few times. The meltdown against the Gators his junior year. Declaring he would've beaten UGA with one arm tied behind his back and then sucking horribly against them his senior year. Throwing three picks in our first loss to Bama in 9 years.

Tee was 22-3. Higher than Casey percentage wise. Clausen was a very good QB for us all the same.

Casey was a much better pocket passer, but would trip over his own feet out of the pocket while Tee carried us on his back at times his senior season. Dude singlehandedly beat a top 5 Bama team in the first game played in ages in Tuscaloosa.

Clausen threw 38 tds vs 16 ints his junior and senior seasons. Meanwhile, Tee went from 19 tds and 6 ints as a junior to 12 and 9 as a senior.....if he "carried us on his back at times his senior season", he didn't do it very well. 1998 was a magical season, and the magic ran out in 1999. Tee was much worse as was the number in the loss column for the team, from 0 in 98 to 3 in 99.

Tee threw 16 passes in the NFL and had a 25.3 passer rating. Surely to goodness you're not trying to make your case with that. Either way, it's has zero bearing/to do with how good the two were as qbs at Tennessee. One of them is second all time on the UT lists in wins, yards and TD passes....Clausen.

Casey was definitely more under appreciated.

dobbs will go down, imo, a lot like Andy Kelly does in Vol lore. he may not be considered the best, but he will be many, many people's favorite. in large part because he was the guy that guided us on the journey back up. those teams Kelly qb'd, were the teams that set up the success we had in the 90's...put us back on the map.

much like Dobbs has done for the better part of the last 2-3 years.

Clausen was a good college QB. That's it. He was good. Never won an SEC Championship and lost some games he should have won. I don't think Casey was overrated or underrated. He was just what he was. A good QB on a very talented team.

He beat Florida, Alabama and Miami on the road his senior season. Yeah, LMFAO, he regressed
