"You're so-o vain, I bet you think this thread is about you. Don't you?"

No D4H, this thread is about the real Dobbs. Gotcha!

Anyways to the point. I have seen several threads and articles calling Hurd our "dark horse" Heisman candidate this offseason, but little-to-none of the same love given to Joshua Dobbs. This puzzles me for a couple of reasons:

1. Josh Dobbs is our QB. If anybody from UT wins the trophy it will be because we will have had an outstanding season (great players on bad teams do not win.)In order for us to have a great season, Dobbs, more so than anybody, will need to have a stellar season. If he does not elevate his game significantly, we will not have the season necessary for a Heisman win.

2. Hurd is a RB, meaning his chances of winning are much less than that of a QB. Additionally, Hurd will be splitting time significantly with Kamara, meaning his numbers will not be as impressive as those of a say, Leonard Fournette (although IMO Hurd is a more complete back.)

So what do you guys think? If we have an amazing season, who is more likely to win the Heisman? Dobbs or Hurd?

Neither. Both compete for carries, and Dobbs can't pass well enough to win.

Agree.

The Heisman trophy should be a 3-way race between Watson, Fournette, and McCaffrey.

All I really care about is that NC trophy. :good!:

Looking forward to D4H's response...

Good to see you old friend!

I agree so far Dobbs hasn't passed well enough to win. But this is a hypothetical situation where we have won the games necessary to have a legitimate candidate. I don't see us winning those kinds of games unless Dobbs' throwing improves dramatically this year

You are right.

If we have a heisman winner next year, it will most likely be Dobbs.

My dream is for both Dobbs and Hurd to be invited to New York and become the first ever co-Heismans.

Maybe the funniest thing about this post is that you probably believe this is really possible

After Peyton got jobbed I am convinced no Vol will ever finish higher than 2nd in Heisman voting. I think that is actually in the NCAA by-laws now.

Ok, I'll bite.

Until Hurd puts up numbers like Henry and Fournette did last year he will be a complete afterthought. Hell Fournette didn't even get an invite with Xbox type numbers. I don't see him rushing for close to 2,000 yards....

Same goes for Dobbs. Dobbs needs to be more like Deshaun Watson. I don't see Dobbs throwing for 3,500+ yards and 30 TD's even with an improved passing game. They wil both probably rush for 5 or 600+ yards so that's a wash.

In all reality, who cares. The Heisman lost its meaning when they gave it to a defensive back instead of one of the greatest QB's to play of all time.

I love Hurd but he would have to run for 2500 yards and win NC, and even then it would be 50/50 cause we are TN! :banghead2:

Didn't Leinart and Reggie Bush come close a decade ago or so?

Neither. I'm pretty sure it's against NCAA rules for a Tennessee player to win the HeisTman
