that maybe Kiffin is hinting to these guys about leaving the team in order to open up scholorships for this next signing class?

If he thinks he can abort the '09 season in favor of the '10 season he is on a slippery slope.

I hope so I'm sick of seeing these guys get whipped in that beautiful orange uni. Kiffin go get us some winners. If you have to step on some toes to do it, so be it.

Really it makes a lot of sense if that is what is going on. I mean what is the point of keeping guys on the team if you aren't going to play them?

Recruiting is very big to this staff, it is full of experince. I think they realize the time is now tho.

someone make a list of everyone that has quit or been kicked off. Outside of Morley, I don't think any of them where going to be starters...

I don't think Kiffin is suggesting to people to leave, no. I think he's saying, "Look, right now, you guys don't have what it takes to compete at the level we want. Now you can do 1 of 3 things. You can quit the team, you can transfer, or you can bust your butt to get better and earn your way to a starting position." The hard-workers will respond, the duds will leave the team.

Yes, he kicked Morley off the team, but he deserved it, as he was missing practices and showing up late to meetings, etc.

I'd agree with that...although Creer and Coleman may have seen moderate to significant playing time. Those three are really the only players I would have liked to stay on the team. But I'm sure the staff knows what they're doing.

I just think Kiffin is telling it like it is. He is telling people if they have a shot at playing or not instead of keeping them around for the hell of it.

he's doing exactly what he said he would do- get the best players on the field. Recruits will see this and know if they come to UT they are truly wanted by this staff and will get an honest shot if they choose to work hard. It's a great selling point

Yes. I trade Coleman for Jake Heaps all day long. I too thought Coleman looked good in the O & W game, but he definitely isn't head and shoulders above JC and NS. We will be fine, and this clears some room for Heaps or some other top QB recruit.

I agree as long as he realizes we need depth and isn't running off guys by telling them they aren't gonna be starting for his national championship team.

yes. Besides the three people I just named, everyone else was as worthless cici's pizza.

saying that to coleman translates roughly into "i dont give a crap about this season, lets move on to the next." tell me exactly, how that is a reflection of good coaching? '09 is not completely meaningless.

Well, I think Bama fans considered the '07 season meaningless, and look what happened for them in '08.

if you asked an alabama fan what they thought about the upcoming season in the summer of 2007, i can guarantee you the answer wouldn't be "meaningless".

I guess you missed the "Besides the three people I just named" part.

And there are obviously other reasons these guys got kicked off. It's not like he's specifically looking for reasons to kick players off his team.

In reply to the Coleman part, who knows what the reason was for his transfer? Maybe he thought Kiffin was favoring Crompton and there was a very little chance of him starting. Besides Coleman, Morley, and Creer, I don't mind the other guys being kicked off for more competitive and better players in 2010. I mean how much PT would those guys have gotten anyway? Free up the scholarships!
