Do you think Pruitt wants to be here?

I told my wife if Alabama or Georgia called and offered me a job making $millions would I take it? yeah! would I wear their gear? yeah! would I love and embrace the school? no way! because at my core I have always disliked those places. I would tolerate it for the money but that's not love. I feel the same with Pruitt. He could get fired tomorrow but he and his kids are set for life. He grew up a bamer, gave up starting at mtsu to ride the pine at bama. At his core he has always hated Tennessee. I wonder what he thought about Fulmer turning over bama in 2004, I bet he was POd. I just don't see how this ever works. Hope I'm wrong but today is not good evidence.

Pruitt told all of you what he thought about this job when he decided to finish out as DC at Bama over getting to work immediately and permanently as the UT head coach
You might want to change your username to VolSeer. I'm not being facetious. It, at least a little, must be nice being proven correct. I know I don't post a lot in the main forums but I do pay attention and it seems as though the "realists" should get be getting props. You were right

If Phil Fulmer is forced out over this it will be "Jimmy Haslam Strikes Back" and I bet Jimmy would get one of his puppets put in as Tennessee Athletic Director
Oh good god. Saving the program from schiano, puppets and crazy mike leach. We just got bent over by a 2 win sun belt bottom feeder. Sun belt! Better known for cheap greasy granola bars, than good football.

I'm all for puppets at this point. Bring on the manger babies, what could it hurt?

Ha, thanks man. You have a great memory. I was roasted non-stop on here for that opinion, back then.

Maybe people around here will learn to stop praising HCs before they actually accomplish something.

Kiffin was "the guy", Dooley was "the guy", Jones was "the guy", Pruitt was "the guy".....
What are you talking about we have a bunch of assholes on here that have defended these coaches when they have all proven to be Complete ****, hell they are part of the reason we are in the complete dissaray that we are in. **** every one of them.

99% of the time to me it seems like he hates being here. He's shown no passion/ excitement to get us back to where we should be. I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
He sure doesn't tonight after that BS show. He's probably wishing he was a coordinator again.

I wondered when he came if this was Alabama's sacrificial lamb to run us into the ground since they still blame Fulmer for them getting caught cheating in the 90's. So, they draw straws and Pruitt gets the short one. "Go to Tennessee, they'll pay you top dollar, run the program and fans into the ground, and come back in 4 years, it will be epic!!!" (joking)
Until today, I wanted to believe that he just wants to coach, loves football, and wants to see young men suceed. However, I'm starting to wonder if his hearts not in it for Tennessee. Does the players apathy represent his?
Maybe a coordinator is good at X's and O's but, a true head coach can light a fire under a team's @$$ and make them want to run through walls. I think Georgia State's head coach proved that can be worth more than only playing a game by the X"s and O's.

Peanut loves it here. And he is a good man. But just in way over his head. Coordinators are not always head ball coaches
Truth!

Ken Donahue, John Chavis, and Bud Foster are great examples of great coordinators that knew they did not fit the role of head coach. I believe that Pruitt is probably in the same mold but failed to realize the demands of making the leap to head coach.

I think the main failure here is the lack of recognition in what the needs of the program were in making this hire. Fulmer should have stepped back and took a deep breath and realized that this program needed a more experienced head coach at that time. The result is a train wreck that keeps occurring over and over.

I haven’t felt like any of our last four HCs wanted to be here after the first year. Our boosters and/or administration must be an utter beatdown.

The fan base turning on them in an instant doesn’t help either...

After yesterday, if he did want to be here, he won't anymore. He can't handle this. You need very thick skin to be a Vol HC. That and you need to be competent. I have no idea what is happening. No adjustments. Strength and conditioning? We were slow as Christmas. I could run circles around our players.

Yep. At the time I thought it made sense. In hindsight it was a big red flag.

I assume that is why Randy Boyd is there today, but didn't Fulmer slip in that contract extension that insulated him a good bit knowing that was coming?

No, hes intentionally sabotaging the program ... seriously ? It happens, with stupid turnovers and a non existent defense you’ll lose. If anything look at the defensive staff
First game of the new D cordinator. A good HC would be upset. Look at Saban look at Spurrier. Pruitt didn't even seem bothered. Pruitt should have taken over D in yesterdays situation, the nursing home ladies know that.
