Do you think Oklahoma goes after coach Huepel after this season?

Chances are Venables is probably going to be garbage again and I'm not going to be surprised to see them go full throttle after Josh.

Do you think he leaves us for them?
I think they will go after Hype full throttle, but I think we keep him with a raise if we want to keep him that bad. I hope we keep him

When Venables is cut loose at OU (I think that happens this year - that schedule is brutally insane...has to be one of the top five in SoS in the country), I don't think they come that hard at Heupel.
Here's my reasoning:
1) There is still a bad taste with the way things happened under Bob Stoops when Heupel left/was forced out...Stoops still has his hand heavy on the program
2) Even though Stoops still has a ton of influence in the decision, not sure OU wants to experiment with staying with an "OU Guy" again
3) OU will swing for the fences - they have the resources to go BIG...like NFL or current winning CFB coach (they'll offer the richest contract in CFB history to a John Harbaugh, Dabo, or Day type guy)

Now that said, they could surprise me and stay "in the family" and mend that fence between Stoops and Heupel. Combine that with those resources - money talks, BS walks; NIL resources; facility upgrades, etc. - and they very well cold make Heupel an offer that can't be turned down.

Why not? Would like to hear what you think more than a nope.
I would like to see something better than 7-6 at his current job. He needs to put up a couple 9-3’s before he is considered in my book. He’s the convenient answer because he coached here. If he never was an assistant here no one would consider him a candidate.

I think it’s the only college job he would leave Tennessee for. I think Venables will be there for at least another two seasons before his fate is decided. I also think they’ll be better this year than last year. Their QB situation really hurt them last season. Mateer will be an improvement there. That probably buys Venables another year even if they only win 8 games.

I’m not sure if Heupel would want to undertake another likely rebuild at OU after bringing Tennessee this far, but a truckload of cash can convince a lot of people of a lot of things. And NIL and the transfer portal can make the rebuild process a lot quicker these days.

The other side of that would be if OU sets their sights on Heupel in the first place. He didn’t leave on the best terms when he was last there. Fan enthusiasm may not be behind a Heupel hire. It sure as hell wasn’t at UT but we got lucky.

I think it's more likely that if Venebles get fired he comes to work for Josh as DC in waiting. Not saying it happens just more likely.

I think there is a very high probability that Venables gets fired.

If that happens, I would bet good money that CJH’s agent is the first call they make. They’d be fools not to ask.

I hope he is happy in Knoxville and finishes career with us.

I also hope that ADDW is proactive and at least has a contingent plan. I’m sure he does.

He's not leaving. In Tennessee he walks on water. He stands a better shot at the title here. Deeper pockets. Better recruiting here. He's got bad blood with OK. Imagine getting fired two times by the same school.

Makes sense, the reason I would give him a look is that it’s not really about coach hype up anymore, more about NIL. I honestly think our offense was better under him. I’d just have to give him a serious look. I like how these days you need a good X and O coach as opposed to to the Saban news clip types.

Every time anyone came for Josh or the program (or any UT program), not only did Danny White standby him, Danny showed up with an arsenal on the front line. In today's era of "CYA" in a lot of high paying jobs, it would have been really easy for White to look the other way while the NCAA, media and other programs drove the bus over the program.

Danny White is a leader of men and every single coach and employee in that department knows it. And Randy Boyd is also 100% behind Danny. The same can't be said for the leadership at other "top tier" programs in the nation.

Now if Danny White leaves? All bets are off.

Mark Stoops is on his way to retirement. Have you seen how tired and worn out Kentucky football is?

They have a young and energetic new BBall coach to watch now. Football is back on the back burner up there.
I’ve noticed, but I don’t think for a second that if someone pledged $60 million to their NIL over the next 3 years that they wouldn’t be fully rejuvenated.

They won't come after him now. Coach Heup just signed a contract extension through 2030.

Just a year extension. Looks like it would cost him $8M to walk off, instead of $6M (I think) previously.

I don’t think that he leaves but the nice part is if he were to leave the job is 100 times more attractive than it was when he took it after the Pruitt mess. Danny White has been batting perfect so far, I don’t imagine that he strikes out on hiring a new head coach for the school’s most profitable sport.
