Do you think Oklahoma goes after coach Huepel after this season?

If they have another bad year it wouldn’t surprise me if they go hard after Heupel. I think they’ll prob have a better season though. Would he leave??? I’d like to think he wouldn’t but OU is his Alma mater…

Chances are Venables is probably going to be garbage again and I'm not going to be surprised to see them go full throttle after Josh.

Do you think he leaves us for them?
I certainly hope he leaves, regardless of what Oklahoma does. Having winning seasons, and having an upper trajectory is really pissing me off much like this thread.

His dad lives 45 minutes from Norman in Edmund. Unfortunately, Heupel already lost his mom. This would probaby be the biggest factor in that type of decision.
This is probably the most telling truth about Heupel possibly moving to Oklahoma. His Dad has not, after losing his wife, moved back to SD nor to Knoxville but stayed in Oklahoma.

I'm unsure if his Mom rests in SD or OK or perhaps chose cremation but personally I just feel more comfortable being able to drop by and speak to Mom and Dad, even at rest, and certainly before they passed.

Don’t be calling for CJH’s head if this season does not measure up to your expectations. If you stand behind him today, stand behind him tomorrow! He is a good man, builder of men and a heck of a ball coach for the Vols. If he decides to return to OK one day, then we will miss him, yet understand his decision. I like what he has accomplished on The Hill. I think he has opportunities to achieve so much more here. Support our school, teams and staff. I’m all Vol, all sports all the time.

To answer your question, OK would be insane to not try to get CJH back to Sooner land. I don’t think he knows what his answer would be until that time comes. CJH will does what’s right for his family. Everything is relative to the situation. Go Big Orange!

They’d have to take Danny White, too.
Pretty much. Idk if the AD is the same one that fired Heupel or not but I can see him leaving Danny to go there and rebuild. Heupel has a chance to build his legacy right here and now. Finally has a lot of obstacles out of the way and things trending to build Tennessee back into a powerhouse program.

If we have a really nice season, OU will try. Can’t blame them. With Stoops still out there hanging around that program and still having influence, if I’m Heupel I would have zero interest to be anywhere near the same zip code as Stoops after what went down.
But I’m not Heup, so who knows?
He will take pleasure in telling them to kick rooks.

I think they will come looking and we will outbid them.

We shouldn’t let Heup leave Knoxville unless its in a pine box

If Tennessee has another good season and happens to make the playoffs, I would think hype would stay. Why go to Oklahoma and rebuild when you have Tennessee rolling?

On the other hand, if Tennessee doesn’t have a good year, he’d be dumb not to leave. Let’s be honest, Tennessee takes a lot to be successful, it’s not an easy place to win as a head coach like 20 plus years ago.
I disagree - I think the emergence of the mid state makes Tennessee a much easier job. There is high level high school recruits all over the state now. Plus NIL has really leveled the playing field.

They only need competent QB play and keep away the injury bug and they will be good enough this year to keep him around. He's in a similar spot as Heupel, interestingly enough.
Here's a question, and its what every team has to answer: what is success in today's game? Is 10-2 the new 11-1? Oklahoma can't expect the same success in the SEC. Are they satisfied with having a really good season and beating their rivals? Because its going to be very difficult to win champs consistently.
So at what point is "good enough" to where you're really taking a gamble firing your coach who can win 10 games? How would they know that Heupel could do better? Unless Venables starts consistently producing 7-8 win teams and Heupel makes Atlanta or consistently makes the playoffs, I'm not sure you make that potentially lateral move.

He’s not a troll. He’s posts on the baseball board frequently and is definitely a Vol fan. He’s actually a good dude with a tendency towards self deprecation.

He simply chooses quantum negativity, likely as a result of the fact that he’s a 4’10” obese effeminate man with a terribly ugly face, who got kicked out of his mother’s basement after she couldn’t stand the smell any longer. But it does the best it can with what it has.

You just have to accept her for who she is.

I got your back, @CAVPUT!
I hope she didn’t keep the sheets.

There’s absolutely ZERO loyalty in college football and the Alma mater thing gets way overplayed. Heupel would only leave for an NFL opportunity or a paycheck that no one would turn down
