Do you think Oklahoma goes after coach Huepel after this season?

They'd owe Venables about $35M after 2025. While that's not a ridiculous buyout, it's not chump change. It looks like Heupel would owe $3M to UT if he walked, which OU would probably pay if they got him to jump and they'd likely need to pay Heupel north of $10M.

With assistants, assuming Josh would try like mad to take Garner and Halzle, at least, with him, OU could be looking at close to $50M to just make Venables leave and Josh take the job with his hand picked staff.

I realize there's oil money out there but that's quite the hunk of cash to spend in a year to change coaching staffs.

First off, I think OU has a chance to be really good this year. I’d be surprised if they’re looking for a coach in the offseason. That said, of course they’d reach out to Heupel. Two things work in Tennessee’s favor. First, Bob Stoops still being around the program makes the idea of Heupel going back a nonstarter. Second, OU being in the SEC now makes it a tougher decision. If they were still in the Big 12, their path to being an elite program again would be much easier. With them in the SEC, there’s hardly any difference in the quality of the two jobs.

Chances are Venables is probably going to be garbage again and I'm not going to be surprised to see them go full throttle after Josh.

Do you think he leaves us for them?
Remember that time when everyone thought UGA would come after D.Dooley after his 6-7 opening campaign.Yeah me too.

Heup is likely their first call whenever Venables is let go. I'm not sure he leaves though. He's built Tennessee and has an AD that he trusts here. You'd think we'll match anything Oklahoma offers him and they've thrown him under the bus before. He's building his own legacy here. There he'll be eternally tied to Stoops.

I’m sure they will test the waters, but I would be shocked to see Huepel leave for anything, let alone Oklahoma. That burn runs deep and you saw how happy Huepel was when he got the dub in Norman.

#1-I think Oklahoma will have a good year and will even be a tough game for us.

2-Why does people think Oklahoma would be Heupel’s dream job? He only played there 2 years and was fired as a coach from there and basically made to look like the scapegoat for the bad season they had.
He’s not going to OK.

I think OU will make a run at him

Going to be a difficult decision on his part no doubt.

In the end though OU would be the ones who turned their backs to Heupel. Josh seems like a no nonsense what you see is what you get kinda guy.

He has a large number of things going for him here- rabid fanbase that supports him, good working relationship with D White, recruiting is going well.

Continue on the path you have forged on your own or answer the call to "come home" and having to work in a way different than what you want. I suspect Josh will listen to them but in the end fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me

iF he goes (I give it a 10% chance), I'm most likely not gonna hate him very much for it-at least after the emotional reaction stage ha ha. He's not gonna do a Kiff and sneak out in the middle of the night-I have faith in that. He answered the call to come here when few would have and made our Vols fun to watch again. If he decides Norman is the place for him and what would make him happiest, then so be it.
He’s not going and he won’t give them a chance e to turn their back on him again.

I can see them going after Kiffin and Kiffin happily taking that job. Big time program. Big money. Proven SEC program builder. No past tensions. Kiffin would do very well there and have a better chance at an NC there. That’s if FL doesn’t come calling.
