Do you think Kiffin and co. can make Cropmton into a decent QB next year?

I'm thinking we need to go with Coleman....something in me still believes that Cutcliffe saw something incredible in that young man....

I agree I just think Coleman has better size he probably needs more work but he seems to be more of a leader and that is what we need.
At least with his size we might not see as many knocked down balls at the line of scrimmage as we did this past season.

If Crompton comes out and some how magically sets the world on fire than start him, if he can't clearly seperate himself from Coleman and Stephens then I'm sure Kiffin will go with the younger guys and Crompton's career will be over...sad, but his best chance was to take control after Ainge's melt down So year and for whatever reason couldn't do it. Last year was his next best shot and that blew up as well...I'd be surprised if he sees the field again.

If he can make Crompton into a decent QB, he can make Stephens into a All American. Face it, Crompton isn't gonna see the field unless he's taking Bram Cannon's spot.

Chumpton is a bonafide 5th year senior bust, Kiffin wont be wasting his time on him

I think Crompton will be the starter and will actually shock everyone. He won't be a star, but his transformation from this past year to this year will be a testament to this coaching staff.

Worries me, too. Hopefully the staff will invest their time in Coleman/Stephens. Coleman seems to have a good head on his shoulders, let's invest in him for the future.

I got to say that the QB situation bothers me the most next season, partly because of who we have and the fact that Reaves never turned anyone into a stellar Qb at USC lite.

With what we now know about Clawson's offense, and how he was making every single player check multiple spots. I think Crompton was overwhelmed with the mental task he was given by Clawson. Not to belittle the guy, but he really doesn't seem like the smartest kid in the world. I think when Kiffin brings this new offense to town, and we run our pro style offense where we run the ball, and then bring it over the top with a pass, he will stand out. I think Crompton really could be a good QB, but if not, I think we have a nice diamond in the rough with Coleman.

I highly doubt Reaves had much to fo with the QB situation at USCe. Spurrier works with the QBs in practice, and then screws them up mentally by starting them, benching them, and switching them out as he pleases during a game.

I also highly doubt Reaves will have a lot of hands on coaching here with two coaches like Lane and Chaney. If I had to guess, Reaves will do more recruiting than coach QBs.

Only if Crompton can improve dramatically should he be the starter. Otherwise, no way Crompton should be the starter, the following season would again bring on the QB question. If someone is going to get OJT then it should be one of the QB's that will be around more than one season.

He's got to do more than just sit on his hands all day during practice. It would be interesting to know which coach will have the most influence on the QB situation, coaching and evaluations.

Kiffin was a QB in college, its not like he doesn't know how to play the position, maybe he will play a bigger role in QB development than we think?

I would wager he will have minimal coaching with the QBs. He was a decent QB in college for Appy State IIRC. I truly believe Kiffin and Chaney will each have more time with the QBs than Reaves does. But for all I know Kiffin could trust Reaves to the point of giving him full autonomy with them...

I think will Coleman's attitude and natural leadership abilities (info that I have read on other threads) that he will come out ahead. I would love to see Crompton go out on a high note, but I do not think he will be able to recover from last season. Of course, if the OL cannot establish a running game or provide any kind of protection, then it really does not matter who the QB is, IMO.

I would expect CLK and Chaney will be doing the work with the QB's and more so Chaney, he had a pretty good history at Purdue, although what was said in public always had to do with Tiller and "his' west coast offense. I think we can expect the same with the VOLS as Chaney impresses as a fella who does not care who gets the publicity as long as the product is good.
I am not a Purdue fan...next bama and fla I hate them the most of all. But you can't fault Chaney for his QB production while at Purdue (and if you think selling a kid on Knoxville might have its disadvantages, try W. Lafayette...I spent a week there one Saturday afternoon, and if there had been a gun shop close to what they call a campus I might not be here to spread these words of wisdom...depressing with a capital D).
I would love to hear Drew Brees thoughts on Chaney, once Chaney left Purdue their offense struggled more so than when he was present. GO VOLS

Crompton is the worst D1 quarterback I have ever seen. Handoffs??? Dirt Devils???? Passes to the alumni???? Head on collisions?????

I'm convinced we just need to move on.

But I guess I'll let Coach decide.

I believe that Kiffin will go with the best quarterback, regardless of how many years they've got left to play. We'll know more after spring practice which qb is playing the best in his system.

with kiffin saying that they aren't going to look at game tapes from last season i can't help but see crompton bein the starter next season. i want him to go out on a high note too and am convince that he wouldn't have been near as bad if we had a better system
