Do you think Fulmer

I think given our QB talent, we can understand the calling. Now even with Ainge, its a different story. Funny thing is that we were still in a position to win. That possibility hasnt existed for years. And not just vs Florida. I cant remember the last "big" game we won at home or in general really. I cant wait til we routinely win the big games.

I'm pro-kiffin as it gets i'm just going to have to laugh at some of you guys who are defending Kiffin for the same thing you would have bashed Fulmer for last year. The same types who think losing a close game to Florida some how is a good thing.

did the best he could with what he had

Yep. We'll see when he gets a couple recruiting classes in and on the field. It'll take 3 to 4 years.

Ainge was probably the most talented qb we've had since Peyton, however, you couldn't depend on him. He'd get a hang nail and he'd be out for the rest of the game. I thought for a while I'd be glad to see him gone so we could get a QB we could count on to play every game. I'm not so sure now.

fulmer was a terrible gameday coach. spurrier had him figured out in like 3 games. are you serious. 3rd and 8 draw play what? you have got to be joking . fulmer could recruit but if the game came down to coaching we ALWAYS lost.

Compare the talent left to Fulmer by Majors v's the talent level on successive teams. It went down fast particularly after the 1999 season.

The most talent laden team Tennessee ever had was Peyton's Freshman year. I've watched them since the 70's and I hardly see how that could be questioned. Had Heath Shular stayed for his senior season I believe we would have won a championship that year. I knew Benji and Todd Helton at the time pretty well. For what Heath got at the time for leaving he would have been crazy to let the door of the University hit him on the way out. I don't blame him 1 bit for leaving. Todd Helton had a lot of young dumb and full of vinegar in him when he came to the University. By the time Colquit went down and Helton inherited the #1 quarterback job he was far too valuable to take hits on a football field and he darn well knew that. Look what that team did once the quarterback situation got settled.

Say what you want, that was a Johnny Majors team being coached by Phil Fulmer.

During Peyton's 4 years we had Archie Manning helping recruit what he thought would make Peyton look good. We got some good players through those years. When Peyton left however, recruiting came to a screeching halt. Yes, we'd get the handfull of players like the Eric Berrys, but not the top to bottom quality 3 teams deep in depth that we had before that.

Can we PLEASE move past Fulmer and stop starting a new thread about him every other day. We have a great new staff and they deserve our full support w/o living in the past. Thanks.

Fulmer got us into this mess so NO we can't move past the big pumpkin's QB/OL legacy right now. Check back in a couple of years.

To answer the thread's question, foolmer would have lost by 30.

Except there is no reason to believe it would've happened. If Failmer is still here, the team would've eventually just quit, as usual against the Gators and other superior teams, and the rout would've been on.
