Do you think Butch Jones TRULY feels the heat??

i think "in terms of his growth and maturation", coach jones has really not shown much "resiliency". In fact, I feel this "INDIVIDUAL" thinks we're all a bunch of dummys. Actually, "let me educate you" on a few things. One, His in game management skills have remained pretty much crappy," in and of themselves", therefor, when the time comes this saturday against arkansas to put a foot on their necks, let's just hope coach jones "chart" reads something like this. " hey coach, stomp on their faces while they're down, no one will question you if you do and hell, you MIGHT just win a big game"

This is tough because he has team playing well actually. If there is a hot seat at all it's obviously for his in-game coaching decisions. Not ability!! Two different things. I believe the seat is not as hot as the fans on this site make it out to be; that's not to say there isn't pressure because that is there for sure.

By the way fun stat: for all those who reference Cincy and CMU message boards (like that's supposed to be a measuring stick) to get their anti-CBJ messages across...CBJ had only list a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter one time before arriving at UT. Questionable decisions aside, maybe it has a little to do with players not making plays as well. I know this is not UC or CMU but does speak to his ability.Just a little something to think about.

Prepare to be roasted (no matter how correct you could be).

This is spot on.

All the comments about his financial situation are just ridiculous. Butch may not be an elite coach, only time will tell, but he's not "resting on his laurels" because he is set financially.

His work eithic is obviously very high and he is giving UT his best.

His best?!!! "Losers always whine about their best; Winners go home and f*** the Prom queen."

THINK: not on this board. criticize/support first and think much later.

There are bigger soap operas going on in Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Fayetteville, both Columbias (and...should I go on?) than there is in Knoxville. Here's the news flash, kiddies: Coaches are still learning just like everyone else. The overall nuances of running a mega-complicated organization like an SEC football team are overwhelming at times, and Mister Jones, being a smart fella', is continually picking up these nuances right along with the rest of his constituents. He's not going to meet the requirements for insanity by repeating the same mistakes. Rest assured he's working harder on his own game than any players. Just watch in awe and wonder at how this coaching staff and these players just snap and clear from these heart-breakers and turn this season into one we'll appreciate. I'm going to be patient enough to let the man improve his craft, figuring that he hates losing to OU and UF more than anybody else. He's just not going to cry to the public about them. OK, those of you with nothing better to do can cry on, now. His job won't even be questioned by the higher ups unless this team falls apart. Who's willing to bet that's going to happen? Ante up.

This is just weird. I do/did neither of these...and my wife is 10 times the woman our prom queen is today. My reward: two of the greatest miracles God put on this Earth.

This just encompasses all the hate speech and "cute" one liners that is the VN message boards - ignorant rhetoric in an attempt to get likes.

Good Luck with this approach in life Mr. Winner.

Nope. He knows he has at least two years minimum, and he could lose to Florida, Georgia, Alabama and whatever high profile out of conference game we have as long as he holds serve over everyone else

Our season and the way college football has gone this season. I have learned one thing. Although I have followed the Vols since '68 and thought I was kind of a college football expert. I hereby and hence forth declare, I do not know anything about football. Don't ask me. Don't text me with any questions about football. Or waist your time on discussion of college football with me. My personal opinion, it must be getting close to end of days. Our parallel universe is getting very close and bending space the time continuum . Can't you tell I made the trip to Gainesville. #GBO.

His skin is fairly asbestos, but in his heart he has to know the majority of the media has called him out on his 4th quarter coaching especially since he just did it against the Sooners. Two F'ups are unforgivable. Right now he is the laughing stock of coaching. The real question is how is he going to react going forward because every play that's called from his side line will be more magnified than most plays from other teams. Yes Butch, you are firmly on the media/fan radar.

FWIW...from an ESPN.com article yesterday:

"Jones noted that his teams historically don't have trouble closing out games.

Only twice in Jones' first eight seasons as a head coach did one of his teams lose a game it led by more than seven points in the fourth quarter. Jones' 2007 Central Michigan team lost 48-45 to Eastern Michigan after leading 38-28 in the fourth. Last season, Tennessee led 9-0 in the fourth quarter of a 10-9 loss to Florida but also erased a 14-point, fourth-quarter deficit in a 45-42 overtime victory at South Carolina."

Huh. This is supposed to make us feel better

This right here is what we have to hang out hats on for the time being. The scary thing is that these 2 losses have looked more like a pattern than an anomaly. So it's a pretty big leap of faith to think that this trend will be reversed any time soon..

I guess what I am wondering is what exactly is going through his head right now? Of course he knows all of the big orange nation is not happy and angry over what happened in FL Saturday. Is he TRULY FEELING the heat? Does he get told of all the criticism from the entire nation, sports radio/tv shows, etc? Was he told that every sports analyst out there thinks a pee wee coach could have coached a better game Sat? Does he realize he was the laughing stock of CFB on the Paul Finebaum show all day yesterday?

All in all...does he realize/know that he has royally messed up and has ruined a really good thing all in 2 games?? He had Rocky top bowing at his feet...now his head is on its way towards a guillotine. I HOPE he knows exactly how we all feel!
I honestly don't think he truly cares. He thinks it's his team, but it's Tennessees' team, he is just being paid to manage it.

This team is much better than we have witnessed in the last 10 years. The dumpster fire created by Dooley and Kiffin for the most part has been corrected.

CBJ took this program literally to ground zero before he started the rebuilding process. Not sure how long it will take, but fans are impatient with the process, me included.

At this point, has he peaked it maybe determined at the end of this season. His main goal should be to identify the problem and fix it.

How he attempts to balance out the offense is a problem he should address immediately.

He is coaching scared as evidence by a goal to goal 4th and inches, clock management, going for 2, and conservative play calling with a lead.

Personally, I do not believe he has any confidence in his team and it shows on the field in the coaching box.

What are the many reasons that we cannot get the ball to our WRs? OL, WRs, QB, Coaching?

Any Coach at any level with the talent out there after the first 3 games would have fixed this or at least attempted. They would have made the necessary adjustments in doing so.

New formations and coming out of the pocket, but I think CBJ is just stuck on his Offensive Scheme and is not listening to his staff.

We will see. The game plan was to run the ball down FL's throat. We did. It worked at times but then it did not. Where was plan B to loosen up the Defense.

There is no heat just a bunch of idiots that think they are fans but are just complainers

So you believe even after two blown double digit leads in the fourth qtr that we shouldn't be complaining about coaching? That my friend is not the VOLNATION way, we here at Tennessee expect championships. No way, No how is it acceptable for my team to finish this way. I expect more, especially in year 3!!!! Getting out coached by a year 1 coach is embarrassing. So excuse me for complaining but this is NOT VANDY I am not satisfied with being a mediocre team:hi:

Come on you guys. The coaches know what's going on. They hear the criticism. They just can't let negativity affect the team. I hope our players don't have the same mindset as some of our fan bases, or this team is for sure hopeless

I think the players are fine. For a couple reasons. They can still win the east. As long as they are in the running, they won't give up. Also, kids are more resilient than adults. They will believe in themselvesomg after the adult fans have given up. We don't know what goes on begind closed doors, but the team still has a lot to play for. Fans may have given up, but they haven't. I almost certain of that.

Don't go flaming about the coaching and all that. I'm speaking in terms of the players mentality and not all the reasons fans give as to why the season is over.

I hate to break it to you, but if you are still losing every meaningful game, you haven't corrected $#!&
