I guess what I am wondering is what exactly is going through his head right now? Of course he knows all of the big orange nation is not happy and angry over what happened in FL Saturday. Is he TRULY FEELING the heat? Does he get told of all the criticism from the entire nation, sports radio/tv shows, etc? Was he told that every sports analyst out there thinks a pee wee coach could have coached a better game Sat? Does he realize he was the laughing stock of CFB on the Paul Finebaum show all day yesterday?

All in all...does he realize/know that he has royally messed up and has ruined a really good thing all in 2 games?? He had Rocky top bowing at his feet...now his head is on its way towards a guillotine. I HOPE he knows exactly how we all feel!

If they truly did have the long meeting i believe it went something like this.

Usually this is the point in his stay at whichever school that interest from other programs are starting to talk about early on behind closed doors, or atleast seeing possible job openings due to poor coaching else where(3 years is his max). Problem before is that it usually never got to fully blossom due to not staying more than 3 years. Before he always showed enough to get a step up in his career. While I know TN isn't the absolute top coaching job in the country, there's no where else to go. Any job better than TN either already has a set coach or isn't willing to gamble on him due to his performance on the field. People in general don't like to step down the ladder, and plus they won't pay him as much lower. NFL is not a good fit for him due to that's solely a job centered around player improvement and most importantly game day. In NFL you don't recruit, many times coaches get stuck with players that don't fit their style because the GM wants someone else.

So back to the meeting. Hopefully in that meeting they realize that things surely are taking a turn for the worse. This is something that from their history as coaching together they haven't had to experience due to their early exit. But they also realize they've hit the ceiling of their career if things continue to go south. So ultimately they realize that something has to happen, and it has to happen fast. Not only for our teams sake, but for any future job opportunities that doesn't involve coaching at lower levels.

Whatever their motivation, I hope they get it done.

I don't support butch anymore but for our teams sake I hope he turns it around. That ultimately is the best possible outcome.

I think many around get the words "believe" and "hope" mixed up. Or us against Butch as us against the team. There's major differences in both of those.

His condescending tone at yesterday's presser was very telling.
He "explained" what a half the distance penalty is like no one in the media or the fan base knows what that is.
Hopefully, someone explains to him just how knowledgable our fan base is.

He sucks. Plain as that. He sucks so bad, he probably doesn't even realize he sucks. He may actually believe all the crap still dribbling out of his mouth.
I think many realize he sucks, and others just don't want to believe it is true…but deep down, they are worried big.

He sucks and his staff that he hired sucks. I like Gillespie but other than that, nope.

I am normally optimistic but not anymore. Pretty much, I expect us to lose now cause that is what Butch does, even with talent.

He no longer has my support and can only get it back beating the remaining SEC teams this season with PASSING and running.
Frankly, I want him replaced at the end of the season. Then we will still have good players for a coach who can actually coach to coach.

Wondered the same. Embarrassment could be a good motivator for him if he's Hurd half of what I've Hurd. And I mean embarrassed like that dream where u show up to school naked

He knows how every passionate fan base is. All coaches have an EGO. Those 2 sentences make an equation that has him thinking he can finish 10-2, and while that's a possibility technically it's not reality.

I believe he is too arrogant and stubborn to even entertain the notion that his in game decisions are open to criticism by anyone.

On the $ end? No. He has and will continue to cash in regardless of success.

Has he figured out that year 3 is different than the first 2 in regards to losing games (especially those where you collapse in the 4th quarter and blow a 2 score lead)? The post game questions and answers show a different pattern.

No heat on Jones from those who matter until after the season unless he were to lose the next three to go 2-5.

Don't know if he felt the heat, but I'll guarantee you he knows the villagers aren't happy...

He HAS to be worried about his reputation with the fans right now! He probably thinks its TN fans...they are used to this and will let it slide and forgive and forget. News flash Butch....we aren't and we wont!!

No heat on Butch as far as his job goes. I think he is feeling heat in the form of disappointment. I think he knows he has let his kids and his fans down. He has the opportunity to use this to spring board this team to something special. If he lets this disappointment get him down and in the dumps we are in trouble. If he uses this disappointment to spark anger within himself and his kids this team can still do some special things this season. I think we will see by the play calling and attitude this weekend which way this team is going. Go Big Orange!

I know what will help... Why don't we fire another coach? That way we can go back to not competing in games and getting blown out by 30 instead of being in the game late in the 4th quarter. Then we can go back to competing for the same recruits as Vandy and finishing near the bottom of the SEC. For anyone that thinks firing Butch Jones will get us a better coach must not have been paying attention during our previous 3 coaching searches.

Everyone needs to be patient. Yes, it sucks to lose games that we should have won but that's football. Our talent has improved tremendously. We have young talent and depth at every position. We're still a year away from competing for the SEC title. This team is still learning what it takes to win big football games. We will get there but firing the coach is not the answer.

If you're that upset with Butch Jones then stop coming to the games. Vandy can always use more fans.

I am not against Butch or the players. He better improve his in game coaching. But, what he has done so far with what was a horrible situation, other than these two games makes it where I will be happy to judge him in every facet of the program at the end of the year.

There is no heat. There may be some unhappy fans but his job is not in jeopardy at this point
