Alright say we get CRS. Do you really think he would not jump ship for the 1st good gig that came calling. Yeah great that would put us right back in the same situation we are in right now. Great coordinators that have no desire to be HC's are very rare. They go some where they love and stay there cause they love being there. Not the money. If they wanted money they would be a head coach. Guys it is the way the business goes. We were lucky to have Chavis for the time we had him. Now unfortunately we have to do it like EVERYONE ELSE. We have to find an up and commer and hope he is highly successful and we get 3 or 4 years out of him before he is highly sought after. There are plenty of great coaches out there and I can Garuntee you Dooley is not gonna hire someone that is not qualified to do the job. It is his ass on the line. Not yours. Set back let him hire who he wants and except that your not gonna get a coach that is gonna be a head coach next year or a coach that is gonna be the next DC for Alabama. Just use some common since people.

I agree with you. Since we have down graded the out of conference schedule we need to find some Sun Belt Conference assistants to go with our Sun Belt Conference Head Coach. Greene will fit right in since his defense at Navy this year was 86th in the country.

You are right. Why would we want someone that has proven to win at the highest levels? We should hire a lower tier coach and HOPE he does something in the SEC that he could not do anywhere else.

While we are at it we shouldn't go after the very best players like Bama and Florida. They might want to declare early for the NFL. It would be best to recruit against division III teams for those type of players. Then, we can hope they can play better here than they would have at Bowling Green.

So we shouldn't hire the very best DC because he may leave for a HC job if he is a huge success here? Makes a lot of sense to me.

What is wrong with hiring a great coach that YOU have not seen on espn every week. Can you tell me without looking it up where coach Smart was before he was hired by saban? Tell me the last big name saban ever hired. Did anyone know who Bo polini was when les miles hired him?

If you think navy has ever been even close to the 86th ranked class in recruiting you are crazy.

If I was the head coach I would not want to hire a coach that will leave after 1 year and creat more instability. I doubt Dooley does either.

Saban and Miles have built up equity and can probably afford to take a run at an up and comer. Saban is the reason for Bama's success so he can hire a no name and make him a star. IMO CDD does not have that luxury. As I'm sure you've seen in many posts the UT fanbase is running low on patience. This is not entirely CDD's fault as the downward spiral began before he arrived but it's his situation to deal with. If we hire a proven superstar and improve as much as we should in the next year or so we'll be in a much better position to hire his successor. This all just my opinion of course.

I was excited about hiring RS. But I suspect that it would have disappointed, ending in a fiasco.

I want an upgrade from Wilcox, not someone who is an unproven DC. There is no reason the University of Tennessee cannot have that.
